மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் திறமையை பறைசாற்றும் 'சாமர்த்தியா -- 2016'

04.02.2016, பெங்களுரு,: மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் எப்போதும் மற்றவர்களை சார்ந்தே இருப்பார்கள் என்ற எண்ணம், நம்மில் பலரிடையே உள்ளது. இதை மாற்றி, மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளின் திறமைகளை அறிந்து கொள்ளும் வகையில், சமூகம் சார்ந்த மறுவாழ்வு மன்றம் - சி.பி.ஆர்.எப்., அமைப்பு, 'சாமர்த்தியா - 2016' எனும் நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு ஏற்பாடு செய்துள்ளது.
ரிச்மெண்ட் சதுக்கத்தில் உள்ள பெங்களூரு செயின்ட் ஜோசப் கல்லுாரியில் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளின் கைவினை பொருள் கண்காட்சி மற்றும் கருத்தரங்கு ஆகியவை, இன்றும், நாளையும் நடக்கிறது.
இன்று காலை, 8:45 மணிக்கு சிறுவர்கள் மற்றும் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்கான கருத்தரங்கை அசின் பிரேம்ஜி பவுண்டேசன் தலைமை நிர்வாக இயக்குனர் திலீப் ரஞ்சேகர் துவக்கி வைக்கிறார்.
இரண்டாம் நாளான, நாளை காலை, 10:30 மணிக்கு, 'மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளின் வாழ்வாதார வாய்ப்புகள்' என்ற தலைப்பில் கருத்தரங்கு நடக்கிறது.

A 30-year-old deaf and mute woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 22-year-old man inside a private bus at Pushp Vihar in south Delhi on Monday night. The woman was on her way back after getting food from a shop. She went inside the bus to shelter herself from cold and planned to have her dinner there.

03.02.2016, New Delhi: A 30-year-old deaf and mute woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 22-year-old man inside a private bus at Pushp Vihar in south Delhi on Monday night. The woman was on her way back after getting food from a shop. She went inside the bus to shelter herself from cold and planned to have her dinner there.

The accused, Dheeraj Bhardwaj, who runs a salon in the area, was arrested after the woman filed a complaint with the help of a translator. A rape case has been registered against him.

Dheeraj was on a bike with two of his friends and saw the woman getting inside the bus. He tried to force herself on her, while his associates guarded the vehicle. However, a child playing nearby heard her cry and immediately informed the policemen patrolling the area.

Police said the woman sustained minor bruises. "The policemen identified the accused while they were fleeing. They also identified the trio's bike," an official said. Police are now trying to trace Dheeraj's associates.

பிறவியிலேயே காது கேட்காத, வாய் பேச முடியாத சிறுமிக்கு ஆபரேசன் மூலம் காது கேட்கும் திறன்: டாக்டர்கள் சாதனை

வேலூர் மாவட்டம், காட்பாடியை அடுத்த விருதம்பட்டை சேர்ந்தவர் ஷபீர் (வயது 43) கூலி தொழிலாளி. இவருக்கு ஷாகிரா என்ற மனைவியும் 4 குழந்தைகளும் உள்ளனர். இதில் ஷபீரின் 4–வது மகள் யாஸ்மின் (4) பிறவியிலேயே காது கேட்காமலும், வாய் பேச முடியாத நிலையிலும் இருந்தாள்.

கடந்த சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன்பு ஷபீர் தனது மகள் யாஸ்மினை வேலூர் அடுக்கம்பாறையில் உள்ள அரசு மருத்துவமனைக்கு அழைத்துவந்தார். அப்போது பரிசோதனை செய்த டாக்டர்கள், காதில் அதற்கான கருவியை (மெஷின்) பொருத்தி அதன் மூலம் கேட்கும் தன்மையை ஏற்படுத்தி யாஸ்மினை பேச வைக்க முடியும் என்பதை உறுதி செய்தனர்.

அதற்கான முயற்சியில் கல்லூரி முதல்வர் செல்வராஜன் தலைமையில், காது, மூக்கு, தொண்டை பிரிவு துறை தலைவர் மதனகோபால் மற்றும் டாக்டர்கள் ஈடுபட்டனர்.

சிறுமிக்கு உள் செவியில் உள்ள ‘காக்ளியா’ என்ற பகுதியில் சிறிது குறைபாடு இருந்ததால் செவித்திறனை ஆய்வு செய்து, காது கேட்கும் கருவியை பொருத்த டாக்டர்கள் முடிவு செய்தனர். இதனையடுத்து வேலூர் அரசு மருத்துவக்கல்லூரி முதல்வர் செல்வராஜன், சென்னை காது, மூக்கு, தொண்டை ஆராய்ச்சி மையத்தின் பேராசிரியர் பாரதிமோகன், காது, மூக்கு, தொண்டை துறை தலைவர் மதனகோபால் மற்றும் பாரதிமோகன் ஆகியோர் சிறுமிக்கு ‘ஆப்ரேட்டிவ் மைக்ரோஸ்கோப்’ கருவி மூலம் அறுவை சிகிச்சை செய்தனர்.

அதன்பின்னர் நடத்தப்பட்ட பரிசோதனையில் யாஸ்மினுக்கு காது கேட்கும் திறன் சரி செய்யப்பட்டது. அறுவை சிகிச்சைக்கு பிறகு யாஸ்மின், பிறர் சொல்வதையும் கேட்பதையும் உணர முடிந்தது.

பிறவியிலேயே செவித்திறன் குறைபாட்டுடன் பிறந்த சிறுமிக்கு அடுக்கம்பாறை அரசு மருத்துவக்கல்லூரி மருத்துவமனையில் அறுவை சிகிச்சை மூலம் அந்த குறைபாட்டை சரி செய்து டாக்டர்கள் சாதனை படைத்துள்ளனர்.

இது குறித்து டாக்டர்கள் கூறுகையில், ‘‘சொந்தத்தில் திருமணம் செய்துகொள்வதால், மரபு வழியாகவும், பேறுகாலத்தின்போது ஏற்படும் வைரஸ் தொற்று மற்றும் சில நிகழ்வுகளாலும் செவிப்பறையில் உள்ள காக்கிளியாவின் வளர்ச்சி முழுவதுமாக பாதிக்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த சிறுமிக்கும் இதுபோன்ற பாதிப்புதான் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது.

இந்த தம்பதிக்கு பிறந்துள்ள முதல் மற்றும் 3-வது குழந்தைகள் ஆரோக்கியமாக உள்ளன. ஆனால் 2–வது மற்றும் 4–வது குழந்தை யாஸ்மின் ஆகியோர் காது கேட்காமலும், பேச முடியாமலும் உள்ளனர். இந்த அறுவை சிகிச்சையை 1 முதல் 6 வயதிற்குள் தான் செய்யமுடியும். 6 வயதுக்கு மேல் ஆகிவிட்டால் சிகிச்சை செய்தாலும் பலனில்லை. 2–வது குழந்தைக்கு 6 வயதுக்கு மேல் ஆகிவிட்டதால் அந்த குழந்தைக்கு சிகிச்சை செய்ய முடியவில்லை.

ஆனால் யாஸ்மினுக்கு 4 வயதே ஆவதால் முதல்–அமைச்சரின் விரிவான காப்பீடு திட்டத்தின்கீழ் ரூ.7 லட்சம் செலவில் அறுவை சிகிச்சை வெற்றிகரமாக செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. வேலூர் அடுக்கம்பாறை அரசு மருத்துவக்கல்லூரி மருத்துவமனையில் இதுபோன்ற அறுவை சிகிச்சை நடப்பது இதுவே முதன்முறையாகும்.

இதுபோன்ற குறைபாடு உள்ளவர்களை நன்கு பரிசோதனை செய்து காது கேட்கும் கருவியை பொருத்தி பரிசோதனை செய்வோம். இதில் பயன் இல்லை என்றால் ‘காக்ளியார் இம்ப்ளான்ட்’ அறுவை சிகிச்சை செய்து காது கேட்க வைப்போம். அதன்படி இந்த குழந்தைக்கு ‘காக்ளியார் இம்ப்ளான்ட்’ அறுவை சிகிச்சை செய்த பின்னரே காதுகேட்கும் திறன் கிடைத்தது.

இந்த சிகிச்சையை தொடர்ந்து யாஸ்மினுக்கு ஒரு வருடம் வரை பேச்சு பயிற்சி அளிக்கப்படும். இந்த பயிற்சிக்கு பின் மெதுவாக பேச ஆரம்பித்து மற்ற குழந்தைகள் போல யாஸ்மினும் பள்ளிக்கு சென்று நன்றாக படிக்கவும் முடியும்’’ என்றனர்.

Student in coma due to corporal punishment passes away; parents seek compensation

A differently abled student in Chennai who had been beaten up by a teacher for eating dinner outside, passed away yesterday after lying in a coma for over a year.

Parents, students and members of Association of the Deaf staged a protest on Wednesday. They are demanding the removal of the teacher and seeking compensation for the boy’s family.

The boy was studying in Class II in CSI Higher Secondary School for the Deaf. On 10 August 2014, the boy, along with four other friends had gone outside the school to have dinner, leading to the incident.

The school authorities deny having any hand in this and the case. The case, being a year old, has lost a lot of its traction. While the school holds that the boy died because he was already ill, the parents feel that the boy died because of the assault by the teacher.

Even after a year has gone by since that incident, not only has any action not been taken, but there has been no real investigation into the event.

The family members, though seeking compensation, do not have much proof about what transpired on the night in question.

Chennai: Differently-abled boy ‘hit’ by teacher dies

03.02.2016, Chennai: A differently-abled student, Raghavaraj, who was allegedly thrashed by a teacher for eating dinner outside, died here last week after lying in coma for over a year.

Parents, students and members of the Association for the Deaf on Wednesday staged a protest at Chepauk seeking removal of the teacher and sought compensation for the boy’s family.

Raghavaraj was studying in plus-2 in CSI higher secondary school for the deaf. On August 10, 2014, he and four other students went outside to have dinner.

When they were caught by the then headmaster in-charge Sahila Jancy, Raghavaraj alone complained that the food served in the hostel was in poor quality.

The students alleged that after an argument, Sahila Jancy and her husband Mageshdevan, who was also staying with her at the school campus, hit Raghavaraj with logs.

“After this incident, our boy who was talking partially till then, complained that he had giddiness. Within a week, he lost eye sight and fell ill. Slowly his left hand and legs were paralysed. In two months, he slipped into coma,” says Lakshmipathy, father of Raghavaraj, who is working as a car driver.

“He was treated at Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital and some other private hospitals too. But he did not recover. The teacher and her husband are responsible for what has happened to him.

“They also confiscated the mobile sim card of his latest phone in a separate incident. They threatened him with the sim card. She should be removed from the school,” demanded Mohana, one of Raghavaraj’s relatives.

The school conducted an inquiry into the incident and Sahila Jancy was suspended pending enquiry.

Students who were accompanying Raghavaraj gave a report that Sahila Nancy and her husband hit the student. But, after receiving the medical report, the management reinstated her.

Missing deaf-mute boy found in MP

03.02.2016, A 15-year-old deaf-and-mute boy, who had gone missing from Ganj Basoda in neighbouring Vidishas district, has been found by the Madhya Pradesh Capitals Crime Branch from Gujarat's Ahmedabad, police said.

According to a statement today, Ganj Basoda-resident Vijay Raghuvanshis son Amit had gone to play with his friends on January 27 but he did not return. When the search by family members did not yield results, they approached the Crime Branch. Finally, police succeeded in locating the boy at Ahmedabad.

Samaritans fund deaf cricketer's World Cup dream

03.02.2016, Vadodara: From the city's under-privileged to the elite, residents of the Sanskarinagri have come together to help a deaf and mute cricketer realize his dream of playing in the Deaf Cricket World Cup. Imran Sheikh, who runs a roadside snacks stall on the Old Padra Road for a living, had been running from pillar to post for last two days to raise Rs 1.20 lakh for sponsoring his participation in the World Cup to be played in Dubai in March. On Tuesday, help poured in for Imran, who is also one of the brand ambassadors of Vadodara Marathon.

The Navrachana Education Society (NES), Neha Patel of Vibrant Sports Development Association, Sujal Charitable Trust and Gujarat Chhatra Sansad chipped in Rs 25,000 each to fund Imran's dream. And the roadside hawkers on Old Padra Road too did their bit by raising money for the all-rounder who captained Indian Deaf and Mute Cricket team in Asia Cup last year.

"I thought I wouldn't be able to participate in the world cup as I didn't have much money. But thanks to the donors, I will now don India colours. I am touched by their gesture," said Imran, 30, who is among the three from Gujarat selected for Indian team. A talented all-rounder, he started a moong kachori stall last year as playing cricket wasn't enough to make ends meet. "The roadside hawkers have promised to raise Rs 25,000 and we hope to get help from some other Samaritans," Imran's wife Roza said.

Tejal Amin, chairperson of Vadodara Marathon and NES said, "Imran was recently appointed as coach at Navrachana Sports Academy so that he earns regular income and also made brand ambassador of Vadodara Marathon as we have always believed in supporting the talent. We wish him luck for the tour."
