Shri Rajan is working in this field over 30 years. He is expert in making Draft, Decorative work using Thermocol. He is specialized in Model Artist and has experience in painting sign boards. He is innovative in interior designing and does consulting.





While working in the field, Shri Rajan has provided guidance to many deaf persons and also provided job opportunities to them under his guidance in his organization.

He lives with his mother and he runs his house on the income earned from his art work. He is happy and satisfied in his work. He takes designing work of events e.g. Wedding, Ganeshotsava, Durga Pooja etc.

Ranveer Singh praises India for making textbooks and other educational material accessible for deaf children using sign language

Ranveer Singh has been constantly working towards raising the issues faced by the Deaf community. He has also been urging authorities to consider and declare Indian Sign Language (ISL) as the 23rd official language of India. He has signed a petition aimed at furthering awareness to this cause. Ranveer is lauding the steps taken by India to make textbooks and other educational material accessible for deaf children using sign language.

Ranveer says, “The news of NCERT textbooks being made available digitally in ISL for students in standard 1-5, is a huge step forward in a truly inclusive society. Inclusivity leads to accessibility and our leaders identifying this requirement makes me proud and hopeful for what's to come in 2022.”

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has signed an MoU with the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC) to aid deaf children with educational material using sign language.

The availability of NCERT textbooks in Indian Sign Language (ISL) will ensure that hearing-impaired children can also now access educational resources and it will be a useful and much needed resource for teachers, teacher educators, parents and the hearing-impaired community. According to officials, the cognitive skills of children are developed in childhood and it is necessary to provide them with educational material in accordance with their learning needs.

“The National Education Policy 2020 is a progressive move much needed by the Deaf community and the nation and I commend this big step. This is an important start to equalise the playing field for the 70 lakh + citizens of the Deaf community,” says Ranveer.

He adds, “With my personal endeavour at IncInk, I will continue to be the loudspeaker for the community till their basic rights are met… and we are slowly but surely getting there.”

Ranveer’s independent record label IncInk, which he has formed with Navzar Eranee, has released multiple sign language music videos – the only record label to initiate this progressive step. Given Ranveer’s efforts towards making Indian Sign Language an official language, the deaf community in India has wholeheartedly appreciated him and also put out a heartfelt thank you video for him.

Deaf-mute girl raped by 6, including minors, later identifies accused from photographs

A minor girl who is deaf and mute was raped in Madhya Pradesh’s Shahdol by six people, including four minors. The group also clicked photos of the assault and circulated them when the incident came to light.

According to a report in The Times of India, the police have said that the deaf and mute girl was lured out of her house by some neighbours on Saturday. They then took her to a hut at an isolated place where the five other accused were waiting.

The six, including four minors, took turns to rape the disabled girl and also thrashed her after she put up a resistance. However, she didn’t speak up about the assault.

Later, her father came across a photograph that was being circulated locally after a youth found it and identified the girl. When her parents asked her about the incident, she broke down and narrated what happened.

Superintendent of Police Awadhesh Goswami said that the mother of the disabled girl lodged a complaint with the police on Thursday while the social justice department roped in experts to get a statement from the girl.

The victim managed to narrate the ordeal with sign language and also identified the accused from photographs shown by the police.

Best employer award for Panchkula institute

Chandigarh, October 25

The Haryana Welfare Society for Persons with Speech and Hearing Impairment, Panchkula, has won the national award for empowerment of persons with disabilities for 2020 in the category of Best Employer.

A spokesperson said an Indian sign language teacher of the institute, Swati Jangid, had been selected in the Best Employee/Self-Employed with Disabilities (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) category for her outstanding contribution and participation in international chess tournaments.

Besides, an alumni of the institute, Aakash Singh from the Gurugram centre, too, has been selected in the Best Employee/Self-Employed with Disabilities (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) category for his achievements in national and international cricket championships.

He said the awards were declared today by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and would be conferred on December 3, 2021, on World Disability Day in Delhi.

Hearing-impaired staffers' remarkable service make this Jamshedpur cafe most sought after in the city!

30.06.2021 RANCHI: In the very first look, Café La Gravitea seems to be any other cafeteria in the Steel City of Jamshedpur. But the moment a waiter or waitress approaches for taking orders, one would realize the uniqueness of this eating joint.

Café La Gravitea offers employment to hearing-impaired youths only and currently employ 10. According to the owner of Café La Gravitea, Ashish Duggar, he was motivated to take this initiative after a youth along with his sister, who was hard of hearing, visited his tea stall in 2016 and told him that his sister wanted to work but she was not getting any job due to her inability. “It was a turning point in my life as after quitting my job as Vice President at a steel company in 2015, I wanted to do something for the society. Meeting with the girl, I realized that the opportunity I was looking for was right in front of me and decided to open a Café where all the employees will be hearing impaired,” said Duggar.

It took him a few months to give shape to his concept/ “Now, the Café is being managed by all the 11 employees, out of which 10 are hearing impaired and talk only in sign language. Initially, I had to face problems as I did not understand what they were saying, but gradually I also learnt sign language in the next six months and now I can communicate like anyone among them,” said Duggar.

Probably, this is only such café in India where the hearing impaired employees not only serve food but also cook and do all other chores which is required at an eating joint, he added. Duggar informed that Café La Gravitea is the most sought after eating joint in Steel City which is famous for more than 120 international varieties of tea.


His initiative got a very good response from the people and the Café is visited by city's important personalities. Jamshedpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Suraj Kumar is one of them. “There has always been a myth among the business class that only physically fit people could do a job efficiently, but the initiative taken by the owner of Café La Gravitea has defied it. They communicate in sign language, the menu is already decided and everything is on writing, and hence, nobody has faced any problem there as everything is being done there quite efficiently. In fact, after the initiative taken by the owner, more and more people throng on the Café to appreciate it,” said Suraj Kumar.

In a way it has given positive sense and has added a new dimension to the aspect of business which was not ever thought by anyone else, he added. The DC said that the initiative has also given a lesson for the entrepreneurs that they should also start giving employment to the specially-abled individuals.

Recently, all the employees were vaccinated at the Café itself. “Not only they readily took the jabs but they also motivated the people living in Jamshedpur in their own sign languages which made a positive impact on the vaccination drive being conducted in the district,” said the DC.

Interestingly, Duggar is not only giving employment to the hearing impaired youths but also conducts ‘No Honking’ campaign. In addition to that, he has also been conducting ‘KhamoSheWithLife’ (for the deaf community around the world) since 2017 with a Cash Prize of US $ 400 which is the only annual event by a startup in India that empowers and gives an opportunity to deaf people to show their skill in diverse field.

Two arrested by UP ATS for converting deaf and dumb children, received funds from Pak's ISI

The Uttar Pradesh ATS has arrested two men involved in religious conversion in the state. According to police, the duo targetted poor families, unemployed youth, and handicapped people, especially those who were hearing and speech impaired, children and forced them to change their religion. They have been identified as Umar Gautam and Mufti Qazi Jehangir. They were arrested from the Jamia Nagar area in Delhi.

Prashant Kumar, Uttar Pradesh ADG (Law and Order), said that the arrested were running a conversion racket. He also mentioned that this might be a case of funding from ISI for religious conversions.

During interrogation, the duo informed that they converted around 250-300 people every year. They met people who were economically weak including women, children and disabled. He said that around 1,500 children at a deaf and dumb school in Noida embraced Islam, adding that thousands of such cases have been reported across the state.

Umar Gautan, accordig to police, himself had embraced Islam. He is a resident of Batala house in Jamia Nagar.

The top cop said that people were lured to convert their religion for money and financial stability. He added that many women have been forced to change their religion and were married off.

The accused used to run a centre named 'Islamic Dawa Centre' that got funding from all across the world. Police is also tracking those people who got trapped in this racket and is investigating further to understand how they influenced people.

UP Police's Anti-Terrorism Squad arrests two for religious conversion of deaf and dumb children

The accused have been identified as Mufti Qazi Jahangir Qasmi and Mohammad Umar Gautam. Both are residents of Jamia Nagar in South Delhi

The Uttar Pradesh Police's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has busted a nation-wide religious conversion racket and arrested two people on Monday. The accused have been identified as Mufti Qazi Jahangir Qasmi and Mohammad Umar Gautam. Both are residents of Jamia Nagar in South Delhi.

The UP Police said the racket involved the conversion of deaf children and women to Islam and more than 1,000 people had been converted so far. Police said more than a dozen children of a deaf and dumb school in Noida were also converted.

An FIR has been lodged with Gomtinagar police station under the state's new anti-conversion law. The name of the chairman of Islamic Da'wah Centre is also mentioned in the FIR.

Uttar Pradesh ADG (Law and order) Prashant Kumar said they had evidence that the racket was being funded from abroad.

"Both were arrested after interrogation. We have got important evidence, documents of foreign funding," he said at a press conference.

During interrogation, the duo informed the police that they converted around 250-300 people every year.

"The deaf and dumb son of a couple living in Kalyanpur, Kanpur, was converted and sent to South India. Thousands of such cases have come to light. The people were promised money and jobs in lieu of conversion," said Uttar Pradesh ADG (Law and order) Prashant Kumar.
