MUMBAI: Khar police on Thursday arrested a deaf-mute man for allegedly posting morphed pictures of his wife (who too is deaf-mute) on social media after he doubted his wife’s character.
The 40-year-old accused, who is unemployed and resides in Khar (West), was arrested after his daughter (14 years) recently came across obscene posts and objectionable pictures of her mother on social media.
The case was registered on March 20 after the victim’s daughter alerted her about the posts that she came across on social media.
“The victim realized that the obscene content was posted by her jobless husband and suspected her character. Accused has used his own social media account to post the obscene contents,” said Khar police senior inspector Gajanan Kabdule.
The victim married the accused in 2005 and two years later they had a daughter. However, due to bad habits of drinking and consuming contraband substance the accused stopped going to work. The victim started working 10 years ago.
In the complaint, the victim said, “My husband doubted me having a relationship. He regularly called me on WhatsApp video call and took the screenshot. The same he used to morph and used it with random men photo and posted it on social media with lewd messages.”
The accused has been booked under the Indian Penal Code sections 294 (obscene act), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and IT act sections 66 (computer-related offences) and 67 (A) (publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act in electronic form).
