You will have to try not to cry watching this adorable video of an infant hearing for the first time. The parents of a deaf baby boy from Australia have shared a beautifully memorable video of their son. They have shared with the world one of the most overwhelming moment of their life, when their son heard their voices for the first time.

The parents of Lachlan Lever were not really anticipating this overwhelming video, until they went to get their child a hearing aid to correct his impaired hearing. The Australian parent’s child was diagnosed with moderate to severe hearing loss right after birth. But when the baby turned seven weeks old, he was fitted with hearing aids for the first time. This video is the first reaction of the baby after using hearing aids and listening to his parents voice for the first time.

Toby and Michelle captured the amazing video of their child’s overwhelming reaction and shared it with everyone. The touching video shows the baby breaking into the most adorable smile and blinking confused, until the baby figures out its the parents voice! This happened in the year 2012, but only recently shared online. Watch the video below, it is indeed a lot to take in for the baby.

Universal ID for all Divyang within 2 years

16.01.2016, VARANASI: Union social justice and empowerment minister Thawar Chand Gehlot announced to provide universal identity cards to all Divyangs (physically challenged persons) in the country within two years. The German company engaged in manufacturing electronic limbs will initiate the supply by next year.

Talking to TOI here on Saturday Gehlot said, "High turnout of physically-challenged people during camps of ministry for equipment distribution so far hints that their number is higher than the figure of 2.68 crore mentioned in Census 2011. To know the actual number of physically challenged people, my ministry has launched a fresh survey. We presume that the figure of physically challenged people may cross the mark of 3.5 crores with the completion of this survey."

With the launching of this survey, he said, the work on providing universal ID to physically challenged people had also been started by the ministry. "We expect that all physically challenged people of India will have their universal ID within two years. This universal ID has been introduced for such people by keeping their problems in view. At present the physically-challenged people get a certificate from district administration, which is not acknowledged even in neighbouring district or state to provide sanctioned benefits to them. The universal ID will solve the problem as it will be acceptable across the country", added Gehlot, who was in the city to review the preparations for ministry's proposed event of equipment distribution among 9000 physically challenged persons by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at DLW ground on January 22.

Gehlot said, "Encouraged by the results of the drive carried out by the government last year for cochlear implant among deaf and dump children the ministry has engaged a German company to manufacture electronic limbs with a Kanpur based company. Distribution of electronic limbs, which is needed for about 80% physically challenged persons, will also be started within two years to enable physically challenged persons to lead life like normal people."

He said that the ministry has distributed equipment of Rs 3.50 crores through 350 camps in past one and half years. Out of these 350 camps, he said, 95 camps were in mega category as over 1,000 physically challenged persons were benefited in each of these camps.

Gehlot claimed, the proposed camp in which PM will distribute equipment among 9,000 physically challenged persons would be the biggest camp in the world.

ஆனால், இந்த உத்தரவை நிறைவேற்றவில்லை என்று கூறி, பாரதியார் பல்கலைக்கழக பதிவாளர், உயர்கல்வித்துறை செயலாளர், சம்பந்தப்பட்ட கலைக்கல்லூரி ஆகியோர் மீது கோர்ட்டு அவமதிப்பு வழக்கை கணேசமூர்த்தி தாக்கல் செய்தார். இந்த வழக்கை நீதிபதி மணிக்குமார் விசாரித்தார்.

இந்த வழக்கு விசாரணைக்கு வந்தபோது, மனுதாரருக்கு பணியிடம் வழங்கப்பட்டுவிட்டதாக கூறப்பட்டது. அதைத்தொடர்ந்து வழக்கை முடித்து வைத்த நீதிபதி, கல்வி நிறுவனங்கள், அரசுப் பணியிடங்களில் மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகளுக்கு, மாற்றுத் திறனாளி பாதுகாப்புச் சட்டத்தின் கீழ் அரசு பிறப்பிக்கும் உத்தரவின் அடிப்படையில் வாய்ப்பு வழங்கவேண்டும் என்று உத்தரவிட்டார்.

வேலைவாய்ப்பு மற்றும் பயிற்சித் துறை சார்பில் செயல்படுத்தப்படும் இத்திட்டத்தில், எஸ்.எஸ்.எல்.சி வரை படித்தவர்களுக்கு மாதம் ரூ. 600-ம், பிளஸ் 2 தேர்ச்சி பெற்றவர்களுக்கு மாதம் ரூ. 750-ம், பட்டதாரி, முதுநிலை பட்டதாரிகளுக்கு ரூ. 1,000-மும் 10 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு வழங்கப்படும்.

Railways’ showcase coach a hurdle for disabled

NEW DELHI: The railways has put on display a "model disabled-friendly" coach on which no mobility-impaired person can get into without help. The coach has no ramp or hydraulic lift to facilitate boarding and alighting.

The reason given for the omission is even more shocking, according to activists who visited the Safdarjung station where the coach is being displayed. A railway official apparently told them no such facility was being provided because, on one occasion, the train had left without the ramps being removed.

The activists, from the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People in India, described the coach as an example of "further discrimination" against the disabled. The model rake was inspected by railway minister Suresh Prabhu on Monday.

The much publicized coaches have also been criticised for not having braille and other signages for visually and hearing impaired travellers.

Terming the changes introduced in the coach as superficial, disabled rights' groups said that introduction of a single such coach in a train further discriminated against persons with disalibilities by excluding them from other passegners.

In their report, the activists who visited the model coach on Tuesday said they were told that "only refurbishing of interiors" had been done on the bogie. Hence measurement wise it was the same as other coaches.

According to Javed Abidi, convener, Disabled Right's Group, the decade-old problem of getting inside the train on wheelchairs remained unaddressed. "About 95% of railway coaches are of a particular design and their doors are not wide enough for wheelchair access," he said.

"The primary issue is getting on to the coach from the platform. I have travelled in America, Europe, Malayasia and South Africa. They have portable hydraulic lifts, which are just platforms that can be raised to the level of the train's floor. It is a very dignified and safe way for a person with disabilities to board and alight from the train. Why we are not able to do that in India?" asked Abidi.

Activists such as Abidi, paralympic athelete Pradeep Raj and Dr Satendra Singh, coordinator, enabling unit, University College of Medical Sciences, also questioned the idea of have one or two exclusive coaches for the disabled in a train, terming this as "apartheid" against the disabled.

The Prime Minister in Mann Ki Baat had categorically called for better access for the disabled. Even railway minister Suresh Prabhu had asked officials to look into the proposals made by NCPEDP after his meeting with activists on September 1, 2015.

"The officials are dragging their feet," said Abidi. "This is no longer be acceptable to us. Why not make all coaches accessible and give the disabled the option travelling in various classes such as sleeper, three-tier AC, two-tier etc? We know all coaches cannot be made accessible overnight, but it can be done in a staggered manner."

Mega Disabled Persons Examination camp held

13.01.2016, Ujjain : Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry, Government of India, Sevadham Ashram and Kalyan Karoti Lucknow jointly organized a free Disability Examination camp at Panchayati Akhada Bada Udasin Nirwan Nadi Darwaza, here on Tuesday.

Different stalls were setup at the premises of Panchayati Akhada to examine the disabled persons. Specialist doctors served the patients after the examination. The selected disabled persons will be distributed prosthesis during a camp on February 14. Mehant Maheshwardas told that the service to humanity is equal to the service to the God. Disabled persons face difficulty in practicing their routine work.

1249 disabled persons underwent the examination. 744 physically disabled, 194 deaf and dumb, 51 visually challenged and 206 were mentally retarded. 495 disabled persons who were selected at the camp will be given equipments during the camp on February 14.

தனது குழந்தைகளுக்கு காது கேட்காததை அடுத்து, குழந்தைகளுடன் தானும் கிணற்றில் குதித்து தாய் ஒருவர் தற்கொலை செய்துகொண்டுள்ளார்.

திருப்பூர் மாவட்டம், உடுமலைபேட்டையில் உள்ள இந்திரா நகரை சேர்ந்த விவசாயி செல்வராஜ் (38). இவரது மனைவி கலைச்செல்வி (32). இவர்களுக்கு கவிப்பிரபா (13), நவீனா (7) என்று இரு பெண் குழந்தைகளும், பத்து மாதத்தில் குகன் என்ற ஆண் குழந்தை ஒன்றும் உள்ளது.

நவீனாவுக்கு காது கேட்கும் திறன் குறைபாடு இருந்தது. கோவை தனியார் மருத்துவமனையில், சிகிச்சை பெற்று வந்தனர். அதேபோல, பத்து மாத குழந்தை குகனுக்கும், காது கேட்கும் திறன் குறைபாடு இருப்பது, சில நாட்களுக்கு முன் தெரியவந்தது.

குழந்தைகளுக்கு செவித்திறன் குறைபாடு குறித்து, கலைச்செல்வி தொடர்ந்து கவலையுற்று வந்துள்ளார். இதனால், மேலும் விரக்தியடைந்த கலைச்செல்வி, நேற்று காது குறைபாடுள்ள இரு குழந்தையும் தன்னுடைய உடலுடன் சேர்த்துக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, கயிற்றின் இன்னொரு முனையில் பெரிய கல்லையும் கட்டிக்கொண்டு கிணற்றில் குதித்துள்ளார்.

இந்நிலையில், அதிகாலையில் தூங்கி எழுந்த மூத்த மகள் கவிப்பிரபா, தனது தாய், தங்கை, தம்பியை காணாததைக்கண்டு அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்துள்ளார். பின்னர் அருகில் தூங்கிக்கொண்டிருந்த தந்தையை எழுப்பியுள்ளார்.

கதவை திறந்து பார்த்தபொழுது வீட்டின் வெளிப்பக்கக் கதவு பூட்டியிருந்ததால், அருகில் உள்ள ஒருவருக்கு தொலைபேசியில் அழைத்து திறக்கச் சொல்லியுள்ளார். பின்னர், கலைச்செல்வியையும் குழந்தைகளையும் தேடிப்பார்த்துள்ளனர்.

எங்கும் காணாததால், மீண்டும் வீட்டுக்குள் சென்று பார்த்தபோது, தற்கொலை செய்து கொள்ளப் போவதாக கலைச்செல்வி எழுதி வைத்திருந்த கடிதம் இருந்துள்ளது. அதிர்ச்சியடைந்த செல்வராஜ, காவல் துறையினருக்கு தகவல் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

அதன் பேரில், உடுமலை காவல் துறையினர் மற்றும் தீயணைப்பு மற்றும் மீட்புத்துறையினர் கிணற்றிலிருந்து, சடலங்களை மீட்டு, உடுமலை அரசு மருத்துவமனைக்கு அனுப்பினர். இதுகுறித்து, காவல் துறையினர் வழக்குப்பதிவு செய்து விசாரித்து வருகின்றனர்.
