பிரதமரின் அனைவருக்கும் வீடு வழங்கும் திட்டத்தில் பயன்பெற விரும்பும் சிவகங்கை மாவட்டத்தைச் சோ்ந்த மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம் என தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இதுகுறித்து சிவகங்கை மாவட்ட ஆட்சியா் ஜெ. ஜெயகாந்தன் செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை வெளியிட்டுள்ள செய்திக் குறிப்பு : பாரதப் பிரதமரின் அனைவருக்கும் வீடு வழங்கும் திட்டத்தின் கீழ் சிவகங்கை நகராட்சி, பையூா் பிள்ளைவயல் பகுதியில் அடுக்குமாடி குடியிருப்புகள் கட்டப்பட்டு வருகின்றன.

கரோனா தடை உத்தரவு காலம் அமலில் உள்ள நிலையில் தமிழக முதல்வர் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்கு அறிவித்துள்ள ரூ.1000/- நிவாரணத் தொகை, சென்னை மாவட்டத்தில் வசிக்கும் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் எப்படி பெறுவது என்பது குறித்து மாநகராட்சி ஆணையர் பிரகாஷ் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

இதுகுறித்து சென்னை மாநகராட்சி ஆணையரின் செய்திக்குறிப்பு:

“கரோனா வைரஸ் தொற்றை கட்டுப்படுத்த ஊரடங்கு அமலில் உள்ள நிலையில் தமிழ்நாடு முதல்வர் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளின் வாழ்வாதாரத்தை கருத்தில் கொண்டு நிவாரணத் தொகையாக ரூ.1000 வழங்க உத்தரவிட்டதை தொடர்ந்து, சென்னை மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள 23,841 மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்கு ரூ.2.38 கோடி வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

கரோனா வைரஸ் தொற்று பரவல் காரணமாக தமிழக அரசால் ஊரடங்கு உத்தரவு பிறப்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதனால் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளின் வாழ்வாதாரம் பாதிக்காமல் இருப்பதற்காக மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்கான தேசிய அடையாள அட்டை வைத்திருக்கும் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்கு வாழ்வாதார நிதி ரூ.1000/- ரொக்கம் வழங்கும் திட்டம் தமிழக முதல்வரால் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

இத்திட்டத்தின் கீழ் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்கான தேசிய அடையாள அட்டை (நீல நிற அட்டை) வைத்திருக்கும் சென்னை மாவட்டத்தில் வசிக்கும் அனைத்து மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்கும் ரூ.1000/- நிவாரண நிதி ரொக்கமாக வழங்குவதற்காக, மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளின் விவரங்கள் பெருநகர சென்னை மாநகராட்சி களப்பணியாளர்கள் மூலம் கோட்டம் மற்றும் பகுதி வாரியாக பெறப்பட்டு, அவர்களுக்கு நிவாரண நிதி தொகையான ரூ.1000/- இதுநாள் வரை 23,841 மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்கு ரூ.2,38,41,000/- வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

மேலும், சென்னை மாவட்டத்தில் வசிக்கும் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் மற்றும் கரோனா தடை உத்தரவு காலத்தில் பிற மாவட்டங்களில் இருந்து சென்னை மாவட்டத்தில் வசிக்கும் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் உட்பட சென்னை மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் தங்களது விவரங்களை தாங்கள் வசிக்கும் பகுதிக்கு வரும் மாநகராட்சி களப்பணியாளர்களிடம் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்கான நீல நிற தேசிய அடையாள அட்டை நகல், குடும்ப அட்டை நகல் அல்லது ஆதார் அட்டை நகல் ஆகிய சான்றுகளை தங்கள் இருப்பிடத்திற்கு வந்து நிவாரணத்தொகை வழங்கும் களப்பணியாளர்களிடம் சமர்ப்பித்து பெற்றுக் கொள்ளலாம்.

Language and lack of inclusivity — in the world of the Deaf

What a wonderful, inclusive world it would be if everyone was able to communicate in sign language as well. This thought has been on my mind for a while now.

I come from a multilingual country, know two regional languages, Marathi and Hindi, and two global languages English and French and there are times when I still feel lost in groups where these are not the languages being spoken. Feeling left out because you can’t connect with the language, can’t participate in the jokes, and can’t contribute to a conversation, is a really lonely feeling. And if a person like me who has the ability to form and use words and sounds to convey and understand others, can feel lonely, I can’t even begin to imagine how lonely it must be for those who are Deaf.

Things we take for granted, pitter-patter of the rain, honking of a horn, alarm bells, church bells, birds singing, and just simple conversations to form and be part of social groups, are the things that those with hearing and speech loss are not able to enjoy, ever.



Earlier this year though I read of an orchestra in Budapest that held concerts during spring for people with hearing loss. Mate Hamori, the conductor of the orchestra, put together this concert hoping to bring music to those who otherwise are unable to enjoy it.

He also put it together to bring the much-needed attention to difficulties that these people face in every day life. What this concert did was have some of the audience sit next to the musicians, placing their hands on the instruments to feel the vibration. Others held balloons to convey the vibration of the sounds. Some were even given special hyper-sensitive hearing aids. But all of them, finally were able to feel Beethoven’s Fifth symphony.

According to the Canadian Association of the Deaf, there are 357,000 people who are culturally Deaf, and 3.21 million hard of hearing people in Canada. In India, of the 1.3 billion people, 18 million are hearing impaired. As per the World Health Organization (WHO), over 466 million people all over the world have a disabling hearing loss, of which 34 million are children. That’s over five per cent of the world’s population which feels lost, alone and is forced into their own small bubbles.

So why not, when thinking about inclusivity, we start thinking about making social groups, public spaces, educational spaces, that are more friendly towards those who are culturally Deaf and hard of hearing.

We, as humans, always pride ourselves for developing languages to connect with each other and yet have not made much attempts to learn and understand sign language that would help connect us to a large chunk of our own people. Why not, start teaching and learning sign language and understanding the Deaf culture, to ensure these groups are not left behind, ignored or isolated from the rest of the world.

Someday, I imagine a world where a person with hearing loss is not confined to a social group with hearing or speech loss and is able to participate in and enjoy being a part of the larger social fabric, without feeling lost, misunderstood, left out and alone.

காட்டு யானை தாக்கி காது கேளாத மாற்றுத்திறனாளியான முதியவர் பலி

பாலக்காடு : பாலக்காடு மாவட்டம், அட்டப்பாடியில் காட்டுயானை தாக்கி முதியவர் பலியாயினர்.சோலையூரை சேர்ந்த 70 வயது பழங்குடி முதியவர், நேற்று விறகு சேகரிக்க, அருகிலுள்ள வனப்பகுதிக்கு சென்றுள்ளார். காது கேளாத மாற்றுத்திறனாளியான அவர், காட்டு யானை அருகில் வருவதை அறியவில்லை. தப்பியோட முடியாமல் சிக்கிய அவரை, யானை மிதித்தும் தந்தத்தால் தாக்கியும் கொன்றது.சம்பவத்துக்கு பின், சில மணி நேரம் அப்பகுதியில் முகாமிட்டிருந்த காட்டு யானையால், ஊர்மக்கள் அருகில் செல்ல முடியவில்லை. பின், வனத்துறையினர், போலீசார் வந்து சடலத்தை மீட்டனர்.

சிறு தொழில்கள் மற்றும் பெட்டிக்கடைகள் திட்டத்தின் கீழ் தேசிய மயமாக்கப்பட்ட வங்கிகளில் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் வங்கிக் கடனில் மானியம் வழங்கும் திட்டத்தின் கீழ் தகுதி உள்ள மாற்றுதிறனாளிகள் விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம் என்று திருச்சி மாவட்ட ஆட்சித்தலைவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

திருச்சி மாவட்டத்தில் சுயதொழில் செய்ய விரும்பும் 18 வயதிற்கு மேல் 45 வயதுக்கு உட்பட்ட கை கால் இயக்க குறைபாடுடையோர், பார்வையற்றோர், காது கேளாதோர் மற்றும் வாய் பேச இயலாத மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம். இத்திட்டத்தின் கீழ் சுயதொழில் செய்ய விரும்பும் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்கு ரூபாய் 75 ஆயிரம் வரை வங்கி கடன் வழங்க சம்பந்தப்பட்ட வங்கிகளுக்கு பரிந்துரை செய்யப்படும். மேலும் வங்கி மூலமாக வழங்கப்படும் கடன் தொகையில் மூன்றில் ஒரு பங்கு அல்லது அதிகபட்சமாக ரூபாய் 25 ஆயிரம் மானியம் வழங்கப்படும்.

Godda deaf-mute rape: cops nab one, hunt on for another

One of the two accused wanted in connection to rape and murder of a 14 year old deaf and mute girl has been arrested while attempts are being made to trace the other culprit, Godda police announced on Tuesday, two days after the heinous crime.

The body of the victim, who was bludgeoned to death, was found from a government school under Balbada police station area of the district on Sunday, triggering protests by local residents.

Announcing the breakthrough at a news meet on Tuesday, Godda SP YS Ramesh said raids were held at different locations including adjoining Sahebganj district to arrest one Mallik Yadav last midnight and hunt is on for his accomplice, identified as Mithun Yadav. Both are in mid-20s. Police however didn’t disclose the exact location of Mallick’s arrest.

SP said, “On the day when the victim’s body was found, Mallick had come to the incident spot to find out activities of investigation officials. When he learnt that he was under suspicion on the basis statements by a few villagers, he fled from there.”

Yadav has confessed to his crime during the ensuing interrogation. “We have slapped cases under different sections of IPC and POCSO act against both the accused. Soon, we shall nab Mithun too,” SP said, adding that the two preyed upon the victim finding her alone at a roadside waiting for her parents on Saturday night. “The girl had gone to nearby place and was returning home. She was waiting alone at a roadside for her parents when the two took advantage of her, dragged her to nearby school building and raped in turns. Later, they killed her by a huge stone apprehending that she may reveal their identities,” said SP.

Congress’s MLA from Mahagama, Deepika Singh, who had demanded chief minister Hemant Soren for quick arrests and speedy trial soon after the incident thanked police for swift action. She said, “I am happy with the way police worked with utmost sensitivity in this case and hope that another accused too will be nabbed soon.

IDCA to organize the 2nd ODI National Zone Cricket Championship League for Deaf

New Delhi, August 18: The Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) affiliated
& recognized by the Deaf International Cricket Council (DICC) will
organize the 2nd ODI National Zone Cricket Championship league
for the deaf from 1st to 5th March 2021.

The 50-over tournament to be held in New Delhi will witness deaf cricketing talent from across the country competing for the championship title. Besides victory, the tournament will also be of extreme importance to the players as their performance during this tournament will also get them a chance to be part of the Deaf ICC ODI World Cup 2021 to be held in UAE between Oct-Nov 2021. The tournament will also hand over a handsome prize money for various categories of awards. The 'Champion Winner’ team will get a cash reward of INR 1,00,001 while the 'Runner-up’ team will be given a cash prize of INR 50,001. The Man of the Series will be given INR 5,100, the Best Bowler & Best Batsmen would be given INR 2500 per match and the Man of the Match will be given a cash prize of INR 1100 per match. On this occasion, Sumit Jain, President – Indian Deaf Cricket Association, said “We are really excited to be hosting this tournament. This will be the best platform for all cricketing talent in India to come and showcase themselves. This tournament will definitely encourage the Indian players and give them confidence to play at the International level.” “This will be an important test for all our players as the team for DICC World Cup 2021 will be chosen from among these players. Deaf and mute friends immolate themselves moments after sending selfie video to friends

Hyderabad: Two friends who were allegedly deaf and mute ended their lives in Hyderabad's Nalgonda district soon after they sent a selfie video of themselves to a WhatsApp group. The two persons set themselves ablaze on Thursday.

The two deceased were identified as Sheikh Mastanvali and N Ashwini. Both the deceased used to work at a logistic company in Hyderabad.

Both Ashwini and Mastanvali used to stay in different rooms in Mehdipatnam. Reportedly, the two friends had gone missing on Monday. When Ashwini's family members learned that she had gone missing, they approached the Humayun Nagar police and lodged a complaint. 

Video recorded sent to friends on WhatsApp

While investigating the case, the police learned that Ashwini's coworker was also missing. The mobile phones of the two deaf and mute friends had also been switched off and they had visited Nagarjunasagar along with neighbouring areas.

On Wednesday night, the two friends switched on their mobile phone and recorded a video in sign language. The two friends sent the video to a WhatsApp group of their friends who are also deaf and mute, The Times of India reported.

In the video, the two friends said that no one was responsible for their deaths and they wanted to end their lives due to their personal reasons. After receiving the video, some of the friends tried calling the two but in vain. At 2.30 am on Thursday, Ashwini and Mastanvali shared their location on the group.
