Background information
SignHealth Uganda (SU) is a NGO formed in 2009, to promote equitable access to social services and opportunities for Deaf young people and their families in Uganda through advocacy, cost effective and sustainable services. Our programme revolves around promotion of access to social services including health and education to deaf children and their families in Uganda with the aim of empowering people with hearing impairments to enjoy equal rights and opportunities.
The project
SignHealth Uganda is seeking to recruit a dynamic, energetic and result-oriented young professional to take up the position of Project officer (Deaf health and Education).
Upon being recruited, the Officer will provide support in coordinating fi eld activities to be implemented under the Deaf People’s Health & Education Rights in Masaka and Arua districts. This role calls for an inspirational and motivated individual with a passion to make a difference in the lives of deaf young people.
Qualifications, Experience and Abilities required:
The suitable candidate will preferably have qualifications including but not limited to:

Qualifications, Experience and Abilities required:
The suitable candidate will preferably have qualifications including but not limited to:
- Minimum of a Degree in Social Work, Community Development or related fields.
- Experience in project planning, management, and evaluation.
- Additional training on Reproductive health or Special Needs education would be an added advantage.
- Good writing skills and computer literacy.
- Good reporting and communication skills.
- Experience in project cycle management, budget management, monitoring and evaluation tools, and systems.
- Knowledge of local government structures, working with groups of young deaf people and general disability work.
- Knowledge of deafness and Sign Language is an added advantage.
