A minor hearing and speech impaired girl was raped in a private travel bus in the coastal town of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
Though the incident took place in the afternoon on December 30, it came to light today after the girl's family approached the police.
According to the police, SEZ private travel bus driver C Viswanathan raped the girl inside the bus on December 30 in the premises of VSEZ (Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone), where the girl was working as a gardener.
After being raped, the victim was threatened by the bus driver to keep the incident quiet.
The victim's family grew suspicious after noticing some physical disabilities in her. The inquired about and came to know about the heinous act.
"Based on the complaint, police has registered a case under relevant sections of Nirbhaya Act, SC/ST Act and POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, and has started an investigation," said South zone ACP J Ram Mohan Rao.
