கோவை அரசு மருத்துவக் கல்லூரி மருத்துவமனையில் 12 ஆண்டுகளில் 300-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட குழந்தைகளுக்கு காக்ளியா் இம்பிளாண்ட அறுவை சிகிச்சை மூலமாக காதுகேட்கும் கருவி பொருத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.

கோவை அரசு மருத்துவக் கல்லூரி மருத்துவமனையில் காது, மூக்கு, தொண்டை பிரிவில் பிறவியிலேயே காது கேட்காத 6 வயதுக்கு உள்பட்ட குழந்தைகளுக்கு சிகிச்சை அளிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. தமிழக முதல்வரின் விரிவான மருத்துவக் காப்பீட்டுத் திட்டத்தின்கீழ் பிறவி காதுகேளாத குழந்தைகளுக்கு ரூ.7 லட்சம் மதிப்பிலான காதுகேட்கும் கருவி பொருத்தக் கூடிய காக்ளியா் இம்பிளாண்ட் அறுவை சிகிச்சை மூலமாக பொருத்தப்படுகிறது.

கோவை அரசு மருத்துவக் கல்லூரி மருத்துவமனையில் இந்தத் துறை தொடங்கப்பட்ட 2013-ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் தற்போது வரையில் சுமாா் 12 ஆண்டுகளில் 300-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட குழந்தைகளுக்கு காதுகேட்கும் கருவி பொருத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது. அதிலும் குறிப்பாக நிகழாண்டில் 22 குழந்தைகளுக்கு இந்தக் கருவி பொருத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.

A 15-year-old Hindu girl, born deaf and mute, who was missing for over a week, has surfaced before the media in Pakistan's Sindh province, holding a certificate of conversion to Islam after allegedly marrying a much older Muslim man.

The girl from Korwah town in Badin district had gone missing around nine days ago. Her parents had lodged an abduction complaint with the local police.

On Saturday, she appeared before the media at Badin Press Club alongside her alleged husband, where photographs of her holding the conversion certificate were taken.

Her father questioned how a deaf and mute minor could have agreed to marry a man who is a drug dealer and already has seven daughters.

Shiva Kachhi, who heads the Darawar Ittehad Pakistan, an organisation working for the welfare and rights of Hindus and minorities, said the girl had been abducted, but the police failed to take any action despite the family's complaint.

"We have spoken to our lawyers to pursue the case as we don't believe the girl could have done this willingly," Kachhi said, adding that he had also written to senior police officials demanding an independent inquiry into the incident.

58-year-old sentenced to life for raping hearing and speech impaired girl in India’s Odisha

BHUBANESHWAR – A court in Odisha’s Bargarh district on Tuesday convicted a 58-year-old man and sentenced him to undergo life imprisonment after finding him guilty of committing rape of an 18-year-old hearing and speech impaired girl three years back.

The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Padampur, awarded the sentence against the convict Tiharu Bhue (58) under Section 376(2)(l) of the Indian Penal Code. The Court further imposed fines totaling Rs 35,000, with additional imprisonment in default of payment.

On 29 July 2022, the accused trespassed into the victim’s house and committed rape in the absence of her parents. The victim’s younger sister was a witness to the crime. As the rape survivor’s sibling raised an alarm, she was physically assaulted and threatened by the accused, who later fled the crime scene, according to the case record.

The accused was promptly arrested by local police a day after the crime. Both the victim and the accused were medically examined, and the biological exhibits were sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory for forensic analysis.

The Court also directed the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bargarh, to initiate the process for victim compensation under relevant legal provisions. This case stands as an example of effective police-prosecution coordination, timely forensic support, and committed judicial oversight in delivering timely justice to a vulnerable victim, said Bargarh Superintendent of Police, Prahlad Sahai Meena.

The case ended in conviction due to timely identification for fast-tracking, prompt police supervision for ensuring procedural efficiency, swift forensic examination by SFSL, timely submission of charge sheet, close coordination between police and public prosecutor, consistent witness production, dedicated prosecution by the counsel to make it a watertight case, SP Meena concluded.

Mr Deaf India 2025 meets Manipur Governor, bats for school for hearing impaired

Veihriilo Lanah, winner of the Mr. Deaf India 2025 title, called on Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, on Tuesday, October 14.

During the meeting, Lanah sought the Governor’s support to participate in the upcoming Mr. Deaf International Contest to be held in Genoa, Italy, from November 28 to December 8, 2025, where he will represent India.

Governor Bhalla congratulated Lanah on his remarkable achievement and praised his efforts toward promoting inclusivity and empowering persons with disabilities. He expressed confidence that Lanah’s participation in the international pageant would bring pride and recognition not only to Manipur but to the entire nation.

Lanah, hailing from Manipur, was crowned Mr. Deaf India 2025 at the 12th edition of the national pageant held in Punjab on August 30–31, 2025.

வாய்பேச முடியாத இளம் பெண் ஒருவரை நள்ளிரவில் வீடு புகுந்து பாலியல் பலாத்காரம் செய்ய முற்பட்ட குற்றச்சாட்டில் கைது செய்யப்பட்ட சந்தேகநபரை 14 நாட்கள் விளக்கமறியலில் வைக்க ஊர்காவற்றுறை நீதவான் நீதிமன்றம் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது.

 
சம்பவம் தொடர்பில் அல்லைப்பிட்டி பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்த 35 வயதுடைய வாய்பேச முடியாத பெண் ஒருவர் வழங்கிய முறைப்பாட்டின் அடிப்படையில் குறித்த நபர் நேற்று (14) நள்ளிரவு 11.30 மணியளவில் அல்லைப்பிட்டி கடற்பரப்பில் வைத்து ஊர்காவற்றுறை பொலிஸாரால் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

குறித்த சம்பவம் தொடர்பில் மேலும் தெரியவருவதாவது,
கடந்த மாதம் 27 ஆம் திகதி குறித்த பெண் வீட்டில் இருந்த சந்தர்ப்பத்தில் சந்தேகநபர் வீட்டிற்குள் புகுந்து அந்த பெண்ணை பாலியல் பலாத்காரம் செய்ய முற்பட்டுள்ளார்.

எனினும் அவரிடம் இருந்து அந்த பெண் தப்பிச் சென்று தமது உறவினர்களுக்கு அறியப்படுத்திய நிலையில், பெண்ணின் உறவினர்களால் பொலிஸாருக்கு தகவல் வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இதனையடுத்து சந்தேகநபர் தலைமறைவாகியிருந்ததுடன் அவரை தேடி பொலிஸார் தீவிர விசாரணையில் ஈடுபட்டிருந்தனர்.

இந்நிலையிலேயே சந்தேகநபர் அல்லைப்பிட்டி கடற்பரப்பில் வைத்து கைது செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தார்.

சென்னை: படிச்சி படிச்சி சொன்னேனே கேட்டீங்களா என கரூர் மக்களிடம் வீடியோ காலில் பேசிய போது தவெக தலைவர் விஜய் அழுது கொண்டே பேசினாராம். கரூர் சம்பவத்தை தொடர்ந்து கடந்த இரு தினங்களாக பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களின் குடும்பத்தினரிடம் விஜய் வீடியோ காலில் பேசி வருகிறார்.

கரூர் பிரசாரக் கூட்ட நெரிசலில் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட குடும்பத்தினரிடம் நடிகர் விஜய் வீடியோ கால் மூலம் பேசி ஆறுதல் கூறினார். இதுவரை 41 குடும்பங்களில் 33 குடும்பங்களிடம் விஜய் வீடியோ காலில் பேசியிருக்கிறார்.

அவர் தங்களிடம் என்ன பேசினார் என்பதை அந்த மக்கள் ஊடகங்களிடம் பகிர்ந்துள்ளனர். அந்த வகையில் கரூர் கூட்ட நெரிசலில் சிக்கி இறந்தவரின மனைவி சங்கவியிடம், விஜய், "என்றும் உங்களுக்கு ஆறுதலாக இருப்பேன். உங்களை சந்திக்க அனுமதி கேட்டிருக்கிறேன். அது கிடைத்ததும் வந்து சந்திக்கிறேன்" என்றாராம்.

வாய் பேச முடியாத குழந்தை

விஜய் பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களிடம் சுமார் 20 நிமிடங்களுக்கு மேலாக பேசியுள்ளாராம். எத்தனை ஆறுதல் சொன்னாலும் உங்கள் இழப்புகளை என்னால் மீட்டு கொண்டு வர முடியாது என்றும் பலரிடம் அழுதிருக்கிறாராம்.

கரூர் மாவட்டம் வேலுச்சாமிபுரத்தில் நடந்த தமிழாக வெற்றி கழகத்தின் பொதுக் கூட்டத்தில் செப்டம்பர் 27 அன்று கூட்ட நெரிசல் ஏற்பட்டது. இதில் சுமார் 41 பேர் உயிரிழந்தனர். இந்தச் சம்பவம் தொடர்பாக பல்வேறு விமர்சனங்கள் எழுந்தன.

சென்னை: மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் கார் வாங்க அளிக்கப்பட்டு வந்த 10% ஜிஎஸ்டி சலுகை ரத்து செய்யப்பட்டதை கைவிட வேண்டும் என்று பாமக தலைவர் அன்புமணி ராமதாஸ் வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளார்.

இது குறித்து அன்புமணி வெளியிட்டுள்ள வலைதள பதிவில்: "உணவுப் பொருள்கள் தொடங்கி வாகனங்கள் வரை பெரும்பான்மையான பொருள்களுக்கான ஜிஎஸ்டி வரியின் அளவு கணிசமாக குறைக்கப்பட்டது மக்களுக்கு மகிழ்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தியிருந்த நிலையில், இதைக் காரணம் காட்டி மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் மகிழுந்து வாங்க வழங்கப்பட்டு வந்த 10% வரிச் சலுகை ரத்து செய்யப்பட்டு இருப்பது வருத்தமளிக்கிறது.

ஜிஎஸ்டி வரிச் சீர்திருத்தத்திற்கு முன்பாக அனைத்து மகிழுந்துகளுக்கும் 28% வரி வசூலிக்கப்பட்டு வந்தது. மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் மகிழுந்து வாங்கும் போது அவர்களுக்கு 10% வரிச் சலுகை வழங்கப்பட்டு, 18% மட்டுமே வரி வசூலிக்கப்பட்டு வந்தது. இப்போது சிறிய மகிழுந்துகளுக்கான ஜிஎஸ்டி வரி 18% ஆக குறைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள நிலையில், பெரிய மகிழுந்துகளுக்கான வரி 40% ஆக அதிகரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த மாற்றத்திற்கு பிறகு மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் வாங்கும் சிறிய மகிழுந்துகளுக்கான 10% வரிச் சலுகை ரத்து செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. அனைத்துப் பிரிவினருமே சிறிய மகிழுந்துகளுக்கு 18% வரி செலுத்த வேண்டும் என்று அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இது நியாயமல்ல.

மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகளுக்கு சலுகை அளிக்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்காகத் தான் அவர்களுக்கு 10% வரிச் சலுகை வழங்கப்பட்டு வந்தது. பொதுவாகவே மகிழுந்துகளுக்கான வரிகள் குறைக்கப்பட்டதைக் காரணம் காட்டி வரிச் சலுகையை ரத்து செய்வது அநீதியாகும். மத்திய அரசால் வழங்கப்பட்டு வந்த இந்த வரிச் சலுகை தான் நடுத்தர வகுப்பைச் சேர்ந்த மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகளும் மகிழுந்து வாங்குவதற்கு ஊக்கம் அளிப்பதாக இருந்தது. இந்த சலுகை நிறுத்தப்பட்டால் அவர்கள் மகிழுந்து வாங்குவதற்கான வாய்ப்புகள் தடைபட்டு போய்விடும்.

எனவே, மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் மகிழுந்து வாங்க அளிக்கப்பட்டு வந்த 10% ஜிஎஸ்டி சலுகை ரத்து செய்யப்பட்டதை கைவிட வேண்டும். அதன் மூலம் அவர்களுக்கு 8% ஜிஎஸ்டி விதிப்பில் மகிழுந்து கிடைப்பதை உறுதி செய்ய வேண்டும்” என்று அன்புமணி வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளார்.

பேருந்தில் மாற்றுத் திறனாளி பயணியிடம் கூடுதல் கட்டணம் வசூல்: இழப்பீடு வழங்க நுகர்வோர் குறைதீர்ப்பு ஆணையம் உத்தரவு

சென்னை: அரசுப் பேருந்தில் மாற்றுத்திறனாளியிடம் கட்டணச் சலுகை டிக்கெட் வழங்காமல் ரூ.10 கூடுதலாக வாங்கிய நடத்துநரிடம் இருந்து இழப்பீடாக ரூ.17,010 செலுத்த போக்குவரத்துக் கழகத்திற்கு நெல்லை நுகர்வோர் ஆணையம் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது. 2023ம் ஆண்டு நெல்லையைச் சேர்ந்த இசக்கி செல்வம் என்பவர் மதுரைக்கு பயணம் செய்யும் போது, கட்டணச் சலுகை இல்லாத டிக்கெட் கட்டணம் வசூலித்ததை எதிர்த்து வழக்கு தொடர்ந்திருந்தார்.

மேலும் அந்தக் கடிதத்தில், மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் சிறு ரக கார் வாங்குவதற்கு 10% ஜிஎஸ்டி வரி சலுகை வழங்கப்பட்டு வந்தது. 28% ஜிஎஸ்டி வரி இருந்தபோது அவர்களுக்கு 18% விதிக்கப்பட்டது. தற்போது ஜிஎஸ்டி வரிகளில் மாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டு சிறு ரக கார்களுக்கு 18% வரி விதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த மாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டதற்குப் பின்பு மாற்று திறனாளிகளுக்கு வரி சலுகை கொடுக்கத் தேவையில்லை என நிதி அமைச்சகம் கூறிவிட்டதாக ஒன்றிய கனரகத் தொழில்துறை அமைச்சகம் விளக்கம் அளித்துள்ளது.

A food delivery executive's thoughtful message to a customer has gone viral on social media. The post, shared by a Zomato customer, included a text message from a delivery partner with a speech and hearing impairment, which quickly resonated with the users.

"I have picked up the order. Will be delivering it soon," the delivery partner said in the message before adding: “Hello. I am deaf. I can't listen and mute. I will message you, see please.”

The user named Stutii, who shared the conversation screenshot on X (formerly Twitter), captioned the post: "Things men do for their family!"

'Even after such challenges...'

As the post went viral, garnering over nine lakh views, social media users lauded the delivery partner for their professional and resolute behaviour even in the face of adversity.

"This is why I always tip well. Never know what someone is going through to bring you that food," said one user, while another added: "Even a simple gesture, like offering water to a delivery person, brings them comfort and happiness."

A third commented: "The best part is he is putting effort rather than making excuses to make his life better even after such challenges."

A fourth shared their experience with a delivery executive, stating: "Last week, a delivery guy approached my door. He had a leg amputated and was on crutches. I told him he should've called me at the gate so I could have come down to pick up the order, since our housing society is large. Zomato should consider mentioning delivery partners' physical conditions in the app, so that customers can be supportive if they wish."

In June, another Zomato delivery executive earned the internet's plaudits after he conveyed to a customer that he was handicapped and could not come up to deliver the order.

Archana Pandey, a two-time hearing-impaired Olympian, trains for Tokyo without state support, highlighting a gap in Uttar Pradesh’s sports policy that rewards para athletes but excludes the deaf.
Every evening at a small table tennis hall in Jankipuram, the sound of the ball striking the paddle echoes steadily. At one end of the table stands Archana Pandey, Lucknow’s only two-time hearing-impaired Olympian paddler, training tirelessly for her third Deaf Olympics in Tokyo this November. Yet, while Uttar Pradesh’s sports policy rewards para athletes, it makes no mention of deaf athletes, leaving Archana without financial support or a secure job. Behind her determination lies a story of struggle, silence, and survival.

Archana, 34, has represented India twice on the world stage, finishing fifth in Turkey and Brazil. This time, she dreams of a podium finish. “I have won more than a dozen medals, but I still run my house with just the little I earn from coaching children,” she said, her voice breaking as she spoke of her retired father and ageing mother who depend on her.

Her story began at Lucknow University, where she first won a college title in 2012. Four years later, she claimed her first national medal, a bronze. Since then, her record has grown: one gold, five silver, and six bronze medals in national deaf championships.

Still, she says, the applause never turned into recognition. “Other states like Gujarat and Haryana support their deaf athletes with jobs and money. Here in UP, I get nothing. I only request our CM Yogi Adityanath Ji to support me as he does other sportspersons,” she said.

At the Pacific Table Tennis Centre, Archana continues to train under her coach, Parag Agarwal. He is not just her mentor but also her lifeline.

“Her style caught my eye when I first saw her play. I knew she had the spark,” Parag said. During the pandemic, Archana’s situation grew so dire that she contemplated suicide. “Her family had nothing to fall back on. I managed to provide her some financial support, but it’s not enough for a player who represents India.”

Parag added, “I request our CM to extend similar support to deaf athletes in Uttar Pradesh as well.” He pointed out that, unlike Paralympians, who receive financial assistance from the state for global events, deaf athletes remain excluded. Hearing impairment is not recognised as a disability category in the Paralympic Games, leaving players like Archana without any institutional backing.

Today, Archana trains for long hours, her eyes fixed on the dream of a medal in Tokyo. But every practice session is also a reminder of the uncertain future that shadows her.

“She survives on a modest income from my academy, but that is no way for a two-time Olympian to live,” Parag added. “Paralympians from UP receive full support from the government. Deaf athletes deserve the same.”

For Archana, the Deaf Olympics is more than just a tournament. “My parents tell me a medal will change everything. I believe it too. That’s why I fight every day, despite everything,” she said, before picking up her paddle again.
