Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar, along with his family celebrated Dasehra with differently abled children at Prayas School and Red Cross School here today.
He, along with his wife, Parveen Sharma, and children, went to Red Cross School for hearing-impaired children to share the festivities of Dasehra.
Sharma distributed fruits and sweets to the children and enquired about the functioning of the school.
He, along with his family, also had a round of the hostel to check the boarding and lodging facilities being offered to the students.
Later, they went to Prayas School and exchanged the gifts with students. He also had a detailed interaction with the secretary, District Red Cross, Paramjeet Singh, regarding the requirements in both the schools.
The Deputy Commissioner assured Paramjeet that all-out efforts would be made to ensure that the students of the schools got the best facilities for their overall development.
He said the purpose behind the visit to the schools was to share and enjoy the traditional festival with the students.
Sharma said it was probably the best way to celebrate the festival to mark the victory of good over evil.
He said this was a momentous occasion for him and his family to be amongst these children to celebrate the festival.
