On the first day, officials from AYJNISHD, Eastern Regional Centre, Kolkata is said to have sensitised the public and hearing impaired beneficiaries about the function of AYJNISHD and various schemes of Govt. of India for persons with hearing disabilities. They also informed about the ADIP scheme and how persons with hearing disabilities can be benefitted by the scheme.
Under this scheme, persons with hearing disabilities are given digitally programmable behind the ear hearing aids. Those persons with disabilities having a monthly income of upto Rs. 15000/- per month are given aids and appliances completely free of cost and those with a monthly income of within Rs. 15001 to Rs. 20000/- are provided aids and appliances at 50 percent discount.
Officials also spoke about the cochlear implant surgery program initiated by AYJNISHD under the ADIP scheme. They informed that cochlear implantation along with one year of auditory verbal therapy and mapping is done free of cost to children below 5 years old who have less than Rs.15,000 family monthly income.
Dr. Medem, MS, IMDH appreciated the efforts of Director AYJNISHD Dr. AK Sinha, Mumbai team for organising a camp in collaboration with Care and Support Society at Mokokchung District.
ADC Mokokchung W Mampai Phom also appreciated the initiative of Care and Support Society Mokokchung and the team and said to facilitate such kind of camps in Mokokchung in future.
As per the release in two-day camp, around 110 PwDs were registered and 100 PwDs received hearing aids along with one year of batteries completely free of cost.
With the support and assistance of Dr. Medem and staffs and Dr. Imlitemsu Ozukum, MD (PMR), SMO i/c DDRC, District hospital, Dimapur the camp is said to have conducted successfully.
