20.10.2016, Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday distributed smartphones to differently-abled (deaf) youths in the State. The event was organised by the State government on account of World Deaf day at Siddhartha auditorium here. Hundreds of youth with hearing impairment took part in the event and enjoyed the cultural performances. The youths, including girls actively participated in some special performances.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of Home Affairs Nimmakayala Chinarajappa said that the State government has doubled the budget allotments from Rs 34 crore to Rs 77crore for disabled welfare schemes. He also said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is focused on introducing new schemes for the welfare of disabled.
He stated that the smartphones would be very useful to the differently-abled for the communication through video calls to express in their own way.
He announced that the government is ready to distribute laptops to the youth after the completion of skill development programs.
The Minister for Women and Child Welfare, Peethala Sujatha congratulated the youth for their special performances and cultural activities.
She said that the differently-abled are more meritorious and talented than the normal students and the government is focused to improve the standards with skill development programs. She also said that the youth are true inspiration for the society and they can achieve anything they thrive for.Almost over 700 people received the smart phones in the first phase of distribution and the government has specially designed for the convenience of differently-abled.
The smart phone got installed with three basic and special use apps. The students and the youth were overjoyed with celebrations.
The Minister of water resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, MLA Bonda Uma and officials of State government also took part in the event.
