01.08.2016, Lucknow: A Centre for Indian Sign Language and Deaf Studies at the Shakutantala Mishra Rehabilitation University in Lucknow is another addition to unique institutions that have come up during the past four years in UP. Similarly, there are institutions like perfume research centre in Kannauj, a film and training institute and a design university in Lucknow, which will give boost to the skilled manpower development and promote industry in the state.
Talking to TOI, Shankutala Mishra Rehabilitation University's VC Nishith Rai said that the centre for sign languages, inaugurated by the CM, would not only provide courses and training to the differently- abled persons, but also produce interpreters for the deaf and dumb population.
"This is first time that a film and training institute is being opened in Lucknow and similarly a special, first-of-its-kind design university for the handmade product is also being developed in the state capital. The film institute will push film-making activities in the state which have already recorded a sharp rise," principal secretary, tourism,Navneet Sehgal told TOI.
Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav himself had observed recently: "You can see how IITs, IIMs, FTII and NIFT are giving India best brains in the field. So, UP government has also decided to be home to best institutes of the country in the same manner so that our young boys and girls can be trained to compete with those from institutes of excellence." The CM has consciously chosen to start projects in the field of medical education, finance management, forest and wildlife management, forest and wildlife management diploma and degree courses, designing and perfumery, said a senior bureaucrat.
"Most of the government implement special plans and programmes for the welfare of the state, but chief minister Akhilesh Yadav in a silent way has chosen a different path for a long-term development by gifting the state with a number of research, development and management institutes," observed principal secretary, finance,Rahul Bhatnagar.
"The Institute of Finance and Economic management inaugurated recently is unique in the sense that it is providing training to officers from other states also," he added.
