Patiala, September 11 Patiala girl Parul Gupta bagged a gold medal along with her doubles partner Jafreen Shaik by defeating Janoslkova Jana and Banguglu Tutem from Slovakia in the Slovenia Deaf Tennis Open 2016 that concluded today at Portoroz, Slovenia.
Parul’s campaign was sponsored by the Punjab National Bank that approved Rs 1.84 lakh sponsorship for this hearing impaired tennis player to compete in the Slovenia Deaf Tennis
Open. “I am thankful to my sponsors and my father
who always believed in my ability and that was one reason why I could achieve the feat,” she said.
“I am very happy for her achievement as she has worked really hard work to compete with one of the best in the world,” said her father Avinash Gupta.
Gupta, an employee of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, along with his wife Madhu exhausted all his savings on training Parul and sponsoring her to various competitions in the past
