28.11.2016, RAJKOT: The city police on Sunday arrested a 16-year-old speech and hearing impaired boy, who had allegedly killed a 55-year-old man by smashing his head with a stone last week.
The boy, who lives in Khodiyarpara, confessed to the crime, Bhaktinagar police station officials said. On November 24, the man identified as Bharad Adesara was found murdered at a public garden in Sorathiyawadi. Adesara's nephew had lodged a complaint.
While scanning CCTV footages, police noticed a young boy coming out of the garden at around the same time when Adesara was murdered. They kept a watch there and nabbed him on Sunday.
A person who teaches the speech and hearing impaired people was called to communicate with the boy, who described how he killed Adesara with a stone. The teenager confessed that he had smashed Adesara's head with a stone and taken away Rs 600 from his pocket.
"The boy had killed Adesara with an intention of loot," said police. Preliminary investigation revealed the boy used to frequently beat his mother too and snatch away money from her. His father works a casual labourer. Police also recovered his blood-stained clothes.
