All six students of the government-run blind school in Tilaknagar passed the SSLC board exam with flying colours.Mahendra MR, from Uthalli in Chamarajanagar, scored 62%. His parents Raju and Poornima, both agricultural labourers, are elated at his achievement. Her mother said she never expected her son to even pass the exam.
Mahendra is the eldest of three children and developed partial blindness when he was very young. His parents want him to study further and Mahendra wants to become a teacher.His classmates Siddaratha C (384), Arun Kumar (435), S C Ramesh (470), Raju K (466) and H K Manjunath (407) too are elated at their performance.
School superintendent Chennesaiah M said these students were given lessons in meditation which helped them score high marks.Hearing impaired students.Fifteen hearing impaired students passed the exam from the government school for deaf children, said school superintendent Srinivas.
Meanwhile, St Margaret's Girls School, Kamagere, Kollegal in Chamarajanagar distirct, which is for poor children, secured centum results. In all, 19 had appeared for the exam of which 15 scored first class marks, and four passed with second class marks. The topper scored 462 marks, said Rev Joseph who is in charge of the school.
