உலக காது கேளாதோர் தினத்தையொட்டி, சாஸ்திரி நகர், பால வித்யாலயா காதுகேளாதோர் பள்ளியில், நேற்று, உலக காதுகேளாதோர் தின விழா கொண்டாடப்பட்டது.
தற்போது பயிலும், காதுகேளாத குழந்தைகள் மற்றும் முன்னாள் மாணவர்கள் பெற்றோருடன் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.
குழந்தைகள் வரைந்த ஓவியம், கலை வண்ண பொருட்கள், பாடம் கற்பிக்கும் புத்தகங்கள் கண்காட்சிக்கு வைக்கப்பட்டு இருந்தன. அவற்றை, குழந்தைகளுடன், பெற்றோர்களும் ஆர்வத்துடன் ரசித்தனர்.
குழந்தைகளை மகிழ்விக்கும் வகையில், குதிரை சவாரி ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தது. பள்ளியில், பிறந்து 45 நாளில் இருந்து 3 வயது வரை உள்ள காதுகேளாத குழந்தைகளே சேர்க்கப்படுகின்றனர். அங்கு, செய்கை மொழியில் பாடம் நடத்துவதில்லை. வாயால் பேச வைக்கும் பயிற்சி அளிக்கப்படுகிறது.

தொழில்முனைவோராகப் பயிற்சி!

அதிகம் படிக்காத மற்றும் பொருள் இல்லாத இளைஞர்களையும், இல்லத்தரசிகளையும் தொழில் முனைவோர்களாக்குவதில் முன்னோடியாகத் திகழ்கிறது திருச்சி பாரதிதாசன் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் தொழில் முனைவோர் சுய வேலை மேம்பாட்டு நிறுவனம்.

மாணவ, மாணவிகளிடையே தொழில் முனையும் ஆர்வத்தை ஊக்குவிக்கும் பாடத் திட்டங்கள் மூலம் தொழில் முனைவோரை உருவாக்கும் வகையில், கடந்த 2004-ம் ஆண்டு திருச்சி, பாரதிதாசன் பல்கலைக்கழக தொழில் முனைவோர் சுய வேலை மேம்பாட்டு நிறுவனம் (ஐ.இ.சி.டி) தொடங்கப்பட்டது.

""ஒருவர் பணி வாய்ப்புப் பெற வேண்டும், தொழில்முனைவோராக வேண்டும் என்ற விருப்பம் மட்டும் தான் இந்நிறுவனத்தின் பயிற்சி சேர்க்கைக்கான முதல் தகுதி. அவரவர் விருப்பத்துக்கேற்ற திறன் மற்றும் அறிவை வளர்த்து, அவர்களைச் சொந்தக் காலில் நிற்கச் செய்வதே இந்நிறுவனத்தின் பிரதான நோக்கம்.

அடிப்படைக் கணினிப் பயிற்சி, தொடர்புத் திறன் பயிற்சி, மென்திறன் பயிற்சி, தொலைபேசியைக் கையாளுதல் பயிற்சி, சந்தையியல் பயிற்சி, மல்டி மீடியா என பல்வேறு சான்றிதழ் படிப்புகளும், பட்டய மற்றும் பெரும் பட்டயப் படிப்புகளும் (அட்வான்ஸ்டு டிப்ளமோ) இங்கு பயிற்றுவிக்கப்படுகின்றன.

வேலைவாய்ப்புக்கேற்ற புதிய படிப்புகளை அவ்வப்போது வகுத்து, அதற்கான பாடத்திட்டங்களை முறைப்படுத்தி கல்வியும், பயிற்சியும் அளிக்கப்படுகிறது. இங்கு பயிற்சி பெறுபவர்கள், தங்களின் எதிர்காலத் தொழில் திட்டம் குறித்து தானே திட்டம் தயாரிக்கும் வகையில் பயிற்சி அளிக்கப்படுகின்றன.

மேலும் அவர்களுக்கு மத்திய, மாநில அரசுத் திட்டங்கள் மூலம் கடன் கிடைக்கவும், வங்கிக் கடன் கிடைக்கவும் வழிவகை செய்யப்படுகிறது.

பாரதிதாசன் பல்கலைக்கழகக் கட்டுப்பாட்டுக்குள்பட்ட கல்லூரிகளில் பட்டப்படிப்பு, பட்டமேற்படிப்பு இறுதியாண்டு பயிலும் மாணவர்களில், கல்லூரிக்கு 100 பேர் வீதம் தேர்ந்தெடுத்து, அவர்களின் சுயதொழில் ஆர்வத்தை ஊக்குவிக்கும் வகையில் பயிற்சிகள் அளிக்கப்படுகின்றன.

இதில், மாணவர்களின் ஆர்வத்தின் அடிப்படையில் குறிப்பிடத்தக்க எண்ணிக்கையிலானோர் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டு, அவர்களுக்குக் கூடுதல் பயிற்சி அளிக்கப்படுகிறது. பயிற்சி பெறும் மாணவர்களுக்குப் பன்னாட்டு நிறுவனங்களில் பணி வாய்ப்புப் பெற்றுத் தரும் நடவடிக்கைகள் பல்கலைக்கழகம் மூலம் மேற்கொள்ளப்படுகிறது. இதன் மூலம், சுமார் 30 ஆயிரம் முதல் 35 ஆயிரம் மாணவர்கள் பயனடைந்துள்ளனர்.

ஏதேனும் ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட பயிற்சியைப் பெற விரும்புவோர், பயிற்சி நேரம் மாலை 6 மணிக்கு வேண்டும் எனக் கோரினால் அல்லது ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமைகளில் பயிற்சி அளிக்க வேண்டும் எனக் கோரினாலும் அதற்கேற்ப பயிற்சி அளிக்கப்படுகிறது. ஆர்வம் கொண்ட 20 முதல் 30 பேர் ஒரு குழுவில் இருந்தால் போதும். அவர்கள் விரும்பும் நாளில், விரும்பும் நேரத்தில் பயிற்சி அளிக்கப்படும்.

தொலைவு காரணமாக இங்கு வந்து பயிற்சி பெற முடியாத மாணவ, மாணவிகளுக்கும் இந்நிறுவனத்தின் பயிற்சி கிடைக்க வேண்டும் என்ற அடிப்படையில், 34 நிறுவனங்களுடன் கல்வி ஒப்பந்தம் ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்டு, ஐ.இ.சி.டி பாடத்திட்டங்கள் மூலம் பயிற்சி அளிக்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதைத் தவிர, ஒவ்வொரு மாவட்டத்திலும், ஒரு கல்லூரி மாதிரி மையமாகத் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டு அந்தக் கல்லூரி மூலமும் பயிற்சி அளிக்கப்படுகிறது. மாதிரி மையங்கள் மூலம் இதுவரை சுமார் 3,241 பேருக்குப் பயிற்சி அளிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

கரூர் மற்றும் திருச்சி ஆகிய 2 மாவட்டங்களில் மாவட்ட வாழ்க்கை வழிகாட்டி மற்றும் ஆலோசனை மையம் மூலம் தொழிற்பயிற்சி அளிக்கும் திட்டம் செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டது. இத்திட்டமும் சிறப்பான வரவேற்பைப் பெற்றுள்ளது. பள்ளி - பல்கலைக்கழகம் - தொழில் நிறுவனங்கள் இணைப்புத் திட்டம் (நமஐபந) என்ற திட்டம் 2010-ம் ஆண்டு முதல் நடைமுறைப்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. பள்ளிக் கல்வியின் போதே குழந்தைகளுக்குத் தொழில் திறன் குறித்த புரிதல், அடிப்படை கணினிப் பயிற்சி அளிக்கும் இத்திட்டம் மூலம் இதுவரை சுமார் 1.37 லட்சம் பள்ளிக் குழந்தைகள் பயனடைந்துள்ளனர்.

கிராமப்புற இளைஞர்கள், படிப்பைப் பாதியில் கைவிட்டவர்கள், படித்து பட்டம் பெற்றும் வேலைவாய்ப்பு இல்லாதவர்கள், இல்லதரசிகள், மூத்தகுடிமக்கள், மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் என அனைத்துத் தரப்பினருக்கும் தொழிற்பயிற்சியும், சான்றிதழ் படிப்பையும் பயிற்றுவிக்கும் இந்த நிறுவனம் மூலம் இதுவரை சுமார் 1.93 லட்சத்துக்கும் அதிகமானோர் பயிற்சி பெற்றுள்ளனர்.

தொழில் முனைதல் மற்றும் திறன் மேம்பாடு மையத்தை ஐ.இ.சி.டி- மூலம் அமைக்க தமிழக அரசின் உயர்கல்வித் துறை கடந்த 2012-ம் ஆண்டில் ரூ. 20 லட்சம் ஒதுக்கீடு செய்ததும், மத்திய அரசின் குறு மற்றும் சிறு தொழில் அமைச்சகம் ஆர்.ஜி.யு.எம்.ஒய் திட்டத்தின் கீழ் இந்நிறுவனத்தை அங்கீகரித்ததும் ஐ.இ.சி.டி-யின் தொழில் பயிற்சி பணிகளுக்கு ஓர் சான்று'' என்றார் கோ. பார்த்தசாரதி.

‘Silent Heroes’ wow Doonites on World Deaf Day

27.09.2015, DEHRADUN: During the ongoing film festival in the state capital, heroes of a different kind made their presence felt. On 'World Deaf Day', 13 differently abled children from the Bajaj Institute of Learning in the state capital mesmerized movie-goers with their acting prowess as their film 'The Silent Heroes' was screened at the closing ceremony of the festival.

The movie, supported by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Disaster Management and Mitigation Centre (DMMC), has been directed by Uttarakhand's very own Mahesh Bhatt.

"I encountered the world of silence five years back while making a documentary on deaf kids. I realized they are not disabled but simply differently-abled and I wanted to show this through a movie enacted by real life deaf kids who are the heroes of my movie as they have gone through the pain and hardships in close quarters. The movie was screened as part of the first international film festival in the state, but this will be the first commercial movie based on deaf children and enacted by real life deaf kids. We plan to release it nation-wide in November," Bhatt told TOI.

The 'Silent Heroes' has been shot across picturesque locations in Uttarakhand and shows the state's beauty before the disaster of 2013. It touches on a number of relevant and contemporary issues that include disability, social attitude towards disabled, equal access, social inclusion, importance of search and rescue and first aid and disaster awareness.

"There is nothing a deaf individual can't do and I am happy to have acted in a movie, where we all tried to go on an mountaineering expedition despite being deaf and showed the world that deaf kids are smart, have a sensitive side and empathy and can do absolutely anything which a normal kid can. I loved acting in the movie," said Ashish Chauhan, a class X student of BIL beaming with pride, as his teacher translated his answers given through sign-language.

Piyoosh Rautela, executive director, DMMC Uttarakhand who is also the executive producer of the movie said, "Deaf kids showed everyone through this movie that it is time that the society change their opinions about their disability and treat them with dignity and honour they deserve. DMMC Uttarakhand supported the endeavour because we wanted to spread this message."

The major funding for the movie has been from the open market and teachers from BIL- special educators and the team trained students for months before starting off with the project.

"We all are elated to show the world that being deaf can't stop us from achieving our dreams. We are as much alike as other kids and in fact have innate strength which people must realized," said Khwaish Gupta, another deaf student who had acted in the movie.

மாற்றுத் திறனாளி பெண்ணை ஏமாற்றி, நூதன முறையில் 25 பவுன் நகையை திருடிச் சென்ற இளம் பெண் குறித்து போலீஸார் விசாரித்து வருகின்றனர்.

திண்டுக்கல் ஆர்எம்காலனி பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்தவர் செல்வக்குமாரி(40). இவரது சகோதரி உமா. வாய் பேச முடியாத மாற்றுத் திறனாளி. இந்நிலையில், சகோதரி உமாவை வீட்டில் வைத்துவிட்டு, செல்வக்குமாரி வெள்ளிக்கிழமை காலை வெளியே சென்றுவிட்டாராம்.

அப்போது, ரீட்டா(30) என்ற இளம் பெண் செல்வக்குமாரி வீட்டிற்கு சென்றுள்ளார். அதேபகுதியில் குடியிருந்த ரீட்டா, கடந்த ஓராண்டுக்கு முன்பு வேறு இடத்திற்கு குடிபெயர்ந்துள்ளார். ஏற்கெனவே பழகியவர் என்பதால், ரீட்டாவை வரவேற்ற உமா, அவருக்கு தண்ணீர் கொடுத்துள்ளார். தண்ணீர் குடித்த பின்பு, உடை சரி செய்ய வேண்டும் என ரீட்டா தெரிவித்தாராம்.

வீட்டிலிருந்த மற்றொரு அறையை உமா காட்டியுள்ளார். அங்கு சென்ற ரீட்டா பீரோவிலிருந்த 25 பவுன் நகையை திருடிக் கொண்டு வெளியேறிவிட்டாராம். வெளியே சென்றிருந்த செல்வக்குமாரி வீட்டிற்கு திரும்பிய போது, பீரோவிலிருந்த நகை திருடுபோனது தெரியவந்தது.

இது குறித்து செல்வக்குமாரி அளித்த புகாரின்பேரில், திண்டுக்கல் மேற்கு காவல் நிலைய போலீஸார் விசாரித்து வருகின்றனர்.

New Delhi, Sept. 22: The Union cabinet today gave the go-ahead to set up a national sign language institute, setting the stage for a single and standardised set of signs that would have to be followed across the country.

There is no such standard norm now, which often leaves people with hearing impairment at a loss to understand technical terms.

Sometimes, trained personnel use a continuous sign to represent technical words, while most finger-spell.


Awanish Kumar Awasthi, a senior official in the ministry of social justice and empowerment, said it would be the first time that an independent sign language institute would come up in the country.

"The idea is to standardise sign language and make it easier for the hearing impaired to go for higher studies. While the Indian sign language exists, there is currently no standard norm. We also plan to diversify into regional variations of the sign language," Awasthi, joint secretary in the department of disability affairs, added.

Most countries have their own sign languages. In Germany, for instance, there are sign language dictionaries for subjects as varied as psychology, IT and gardening.

Austria's Center for Sign Language and Deaf Communication has a specific database of technical signs that are followed all over the country.

According to officials in the social justice ministry, there are around 50 lakh people with hearing impairment but only a few interpreters, making it extremely difficult for those with disabilities to pursue a job or even higher education.

It is possibly because of this, the officials said, that the hearing impaired fail to even fill up the one per cent government jobs reserved for them.

Shanti Lal Porwal, president, All India Deaf and Dumb Society, said the cabinet nod was a "great step" forward.

"As of now, there are no texts for sign languages in India. This is very important, especially for educational reading material. In fact, sign language is not even recognised in India, this will be a great step forward."

Porwal also said a universal sign language would enable "able-bodied people who want to learn the language to interact with all hearing impaired people more easily".

Awasthi said the proposed Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre would develop a standardised course content, which would be taught from Class X to postgraduation.

But Vaishna Narang, a professor at the Center for Linguistics, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, felt standardisation would work only if sign language is taught in schools. "Standardisation will come only after the government makes primary education accessible to the hearing impaired," Narang said.

Carnegie Mellon Students Debut Ed Software for Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Carnegie Mellon University students have launched two new, free educational software products designed to help learners who are deaf or hard of hearing. SignBook is an open source program that allows teachers to create custom video dictionaries of local sign language. Speak Up! is a set of games that help children learn how to vocalize sounds. Both sets of programs come out of the university's TechBridgeWorld, which is dedicated to helping people around the world with technology.

SignBook is a platform for teachers to create a local database of animations depicting a sign. It was specifically launched for teachers at Mathru Center's Free School for Hearing Impaired Children in Bangalore, India. Although ample reference material exists for teaching American Sign Language, developer Erik Pintar noted that there are more than 300 other documented sign languages without such supports.


This fifth-year senior in human-computer interaction and electrical and computer engineering worked with the Mathru teachers to create a program that would allow them to make a custom video dictionary of the local sign language, Kannada, in order to support new teachers and staff in learning the language too.

SignBook includes the ability to capture sign videos and relevant pictures for each entry and categorize entries by topic and is usable by any teacher who wants to create a dictionary for any sign language.

Speak Up!, created by a student team, is a series of games intended to motivate students to make sounds and to give them visual feedback on the volume and pitch of the sounds. The idea is to prevent teachers working with students in grades 1-4 from having to make loud sounds themselves as prompts for their students, which can be hard on vocal cords.

As explained by Amal Nanavati, a sophomore computer science major who worked on the team, a game might cause a picture to appear and move on the screen if the child successfully makes a noise. In one game, the sound will cause a rickshaw to move; to keep it climbing on a hill, the student has to sustain the sound. Another game causes a bird to fly at different altitudes, depending on the pitch of the sound. In a third, a fish swims up or down depending on volume.

"Teachers would use these in their classes to keep students more engaged," said Nanavati.

Speak Up! includes 10 games that can be used by teachers with little or no speech training and that can be adapted to fit a given curriculum or the local culture.

Both programs were created during the summer by Carnegie Mellon students participating in TechBridgeWorld's Student Technology ExPerience (iSTEP). iSTEP allows the students to conduct technology-oriented research abroad to fill unmet needs in the communities where they work.

"By providing teachers with the tools to create their own signs and come up with their own games, these solutions have the potential to be relevant for different communities and their unique needs," said M. Bernardine Dias, associate research professor of robotics and TechBridgeWorld founder and director. "By releasing the software open source, our hope is that other educators will find our tools useful and that the open source community will build on the work we started."

Disabilities Not a Hindrance for This Mysuru Chess Prodigy

MYSURU:Being deaf and dumb is no barrier for this 16-year-old to shine in chess, a game associated with intelligence.

Aadish S, who learnt the game at the age of 10 stormed into the Indian deaf team within a year and also won prizes in the open category.

The teenager, son of Somaiah A S, a first division assistant at DIET and Shanti, a staff nurse at PKTB Sanatorium, has won more than 500 prizes in a span of five years.

He won the second prize in the First Asian Deaf Chess Championship held at Tashkent, Russia, in 2011.

In the open category, he finished eighth place in World Chess Championship held at Dehradun in 2012 and got the second prize in U-14 category in International Chess Championship held at Colombo in 2013.

The spectacular journey of Aadish, who is currently a student of diploma in communication science and engineering at JSS Polytechnic, started with a doctor in PKTB Hospital asking his mother not to neglect her son because of his disability and train him in chess. The mother did not ignore the advise. Vedamurthy Purushotham of Yadavagiri trained the boy free of cost.

Then nobody could stop the boy as he went on to win almost all the competitions he took part.

After representing Indian deaf team for three years, he took a break last year when he was in 10th standard. He passed with 57 percent marks competing with normal students.

Now, he is again eying a spot in the team for which the selections will be held next month.

His current FIDE rating is 1536. All his achievements would not have been possible without the support of his parents. His mother especially at times had to take leave without salary to accompany Aadish for competitions.

His father Somaiah said Aadish takes part in at least 10 events in a year and they are ready to make any sacrifice for the sake of their son. He has also won several prizes in swimming and drawing.

66 Taking Part in Championship

As many as 66 deaf and dumb chess players from across the country are taking part in the 11th National Deaf Chess Championship Tournament that began at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry here on Saturday.

There are 44 male and 25 female players who will play eight games each. The winners of the tournament will also get a chance to play in another tournament for selection to the national chess team for the deaf.

27 films to be screened at Ability Fest 2015

Twenty seven films will be screened at the sixth edition of AbilityFest2015 India — an international disability film festival — at Sathyam cinemas from September 28 to October 1.

Award-winning films from across the world have been selected to give this year’s festival a global perspective on disability and inclusion.

AbilityFest2015 will be inaugurated by actor Kalki Koechlin. The short film Him (from United Kingdom), which is “a reflection on life, stillness, and the nature of ageing” and I sign, I live (from The Netherlands), which follows the journey of a young man as he deals with “being deaf in a hearing world”, figure in the inaugural screening.

In the evening, on September 29, Margarita with a Straw will be screened, marks the first time a public screening with audio description for the blind is organised. The screening will be followed by a discussion with director Shonali Bose, co-director Nilesh Maniyar and Revathy.

Other films to be screened at the festival are Iranian films M for Mother (Mim Mesle Madar ) and thePainting Pool (Howze Naghashi), Dolphin Tale (from the United States) and the German film Run if you Can ( Renn wenn du cannst ), which have been brought to the festival by the Iran Culture House, the United States Consulate General and the Goethe Institute respectively.

An exciting component of AbilityFest is the All India One Minute Film Competition on disability, “ 60 Seconds To Fame!”.

This competition serves as an important tool to encourage creative and inspired thinking on the theme of disability, specifically, on inclusion.

Mysuru hosts national deaf chess championship

26.09.2015 MYSURU: Hearing-impaired deaf chess players, about four scores, from across India have converged on Mysuru to try their luck in 11th National Deaf Chess Championship tournament that commenced here on Saturday. 

This is for the first time Karnataka Association of the Deaf (KAD) is hosting the tournament in Karnataka.

KAD-Mysuru Chapter president R Ramegowda told STOI that a total of 80 players from New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, including 25 girls are participating in the two-day contest. Four players are from Karnataka.

Ramegowda (65), a retired teacher of a deaf school, is assisting the organizers - All India Chess Federation of Deaf, New Delhi and Karnataka State Federation of Deaf, Bengaluru, in the tournament at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry.

Kolkata: Police officers beat elderly mentally challenged man who is also hearing and speech impaired

17.09.2015, Howrah: In a shocking and disturbing video, two police officers were seen thrashing an elderly mentally challenged man in Howrah on the outskirts of Kolkata.

The mentally challenged man who is also hearing and speech impaired was allegedly attacking people and vehicles, which prompted the locals of Dobson road to call the police to bring him under control.

The man escaped the clutches of the police and jumped into the well of a nearby garage. Fire services personnel rescued the man after nearly three hours of efforts.

The Assistant sub inspector and a constable of the Golabari Police Station in Howrah who was there at the spot severely beat up the mentally challenged elderly man for "wasting their time".

The man was later, with his hands tied in the back, taken to the Howrah state general hospital where he currently remains admitted.

Howrah police is investigating the case.

Differently-abled gives wings to his dream, builds own aircraft

His obsession with helicopters began as a toddler. When helicopters came to spray pesticides in rubber estates in the neighbourhood, in Idukki district of Kerala, the three-year-old Saji Thomas ran out in excitement. His mother followed him scolding. She feared the loud whirring would turn him hearing-impaired, not realising her child could hardly hear. 

But nothing could stop this hearing- and speech-impaired school dropout from giving wings to his dreams – building and flying an aircraft. At 45, Saji has already built two light-weight aircraft, first just a model and the second that can fly, and is looking to build the third one. He could be a prized possession for any of the world's leading aviation companies like Boeing or Airbus, where innovation and cost effectiveness is the mantra for manufacturing.

A potential poster boy for the Make-in-India campaign is but struggling to make his both ends meet. Ever since he built his first aircraft 11 years ago, in 2005, he is running from pillar to post, seeking a licence for his aircraft so that it can be test flown.

In 2014, Saji took his second aircraft (he calls it Saji-X-Air-S) in a truck to Manimuthar, a flying club in Tamil Nadu. He taxied it on the runway and took it off to a small height since he is not allowed fly above 20 ft. The flight took place under the guidance of a retired IAF wing commander, SKJ Nair.

"He brought his aircraft to the flying club, one evening. I have flown it to see its fitness. It is a perfect aircraft but we cannot fly it unless there is a registration. For a registration, it is mandatory that Saji needs to have the qualification and the aircraft parts have be purchased from authorised companies," says Nair.

Saji has in fact used a bike engine and other low-cost materials for first aircraft as he could not afford to buy expensive parts from authorised dealers. For the second aircraft built with a 65 HP hirth German engine, the aircraft weighs 265 kg and can fly up to a height of 10,000-13,000 feet. Industry experts said the aircraft can be used for sports aviation, recreation and training purposes. It has a speed of 140 km per hour. For an hour's flight, the plane needs 16 litres of petrol. It can fly non-stop for 2-2.5 hours.

The aircraft, built at a cost of Rs 14 lakh, is still at the hangar of the flying club. To buy a similar aircraft, one will have to shell out upwards of Rs 25 lakh.

"To fly, he needs to get a licence. He is trying to get the aircraft registered from the aviation regulator, DGCA," Saji's wife Maria told dna, with a half smile.

His next plan is to make a twin-engine aircraft which needs a short runway to take off. It would cost him around Rs 20 lakh.

That is a big dream for Saji. The man, who lives off a tiny rubber plantation and through odd jobs like electric wiring and repairing of TVs and fridges, can't think of spending such huge sums.

Son of an ex-military man, Saji dropped out of school when he was in studying in seventh standard. Helicopters were his initial attraction, and he made a toy helicopter with wood at the age of 14, with the help of his carpenter friend Dinesh. Once in a while when the helicopters landed at the rubber estate near his house, Saji used to sit with the pilots and watch them in admiration. His disabilities were never a deterrent. When he was grown up, they invited him to Juhu flying club in Mumbai where Saji spent a lot of time discovering and watching planes. He bought lot of aviation books in Mumbai and learnt by observing how the pilots and others maintained and flew aircraft.

Saji realised he was obsessed with planes and flying. With books he had bought and knowledge he gained, he built his first aircraft. Built at a cost of Rs 1.75 lakh, the single seater – weighing 200 kg – was powered with a 26.5 HP Yamaha engine. In 2005, he participated in the air show held in Ahmedabad, exhibiting his first aircraft. He won the Sristi Saman Award, then.

His aircraft created a flutter at the agriculture fair organised by the Gandhiji Study Centre at Thodupuzha in Kerala. The aircraft was later purchased by the Visveswaraya Institute of Engineering in Kottayam for Rs 1.5 lakh where aviation students use it as their study model.

Two arrested for raping deaf and speech impaired woman

The Karnataka police arrested two people for allegedly raping and killing a speech and hearing impaired woman in Bagalkot, central Karnataka.

According to the Bagalkot police, Haroon Rashid (33) and Basheer Ahmed (45) were arrested on the suspicion of raping and killing Usha Joshi (36). The incident took place near Rampura in Bagalkote district.

The police said that Usha was last seen in the company of the duo, who lured her under the pretext of helping her in securing a job. However, they took her to an isolated place near Rampura where they raped her. Later, they allegedly strangulated her to death and disposed the body in a field.

Lawyer to seek court's directive to Centre to bring back deaf-mute girl Geeta

Haryana-based lawyer Momin Malik on Wednesday said he would seek the Punjab and Haryana High Court's directive to the central government to bring back Geeta, the deaf and mute Indian girl stuck in Pakistan, and search for her parents.

Malik, who had moved the high court over the matter, said at a press conference here that "I will also urge the court to direct the Centre to bring back Geeta and search for her parents." The matter will come up for hearing at Punjab and Haryana High Court tomorrow. "The court had asked how will I prove that Geeta is an Indian citizen. I will provide them Geeta's statement, Hindu Helpine's petition and Karachi court's verdict to establish her citizenship," Mallick said.

The lawyer, who is working to bring back Geeta, said, "I had gone to Pakistan to help Geeta on humanitarian ground. I filed a case under Section 552 of Pakistan's Criminal Procedure Code, which empowers the judge to compel restoration of abducted women and girls.It made possible to record the statement of the deaf and mute girl through sign language expert for the first time in 15 years," he added.

Passing its judgement on September 3, the Pakistani court stated Geeta can go to India only through diplomatic channels, he said. Geeta, who has been stranded in Pakistan for the last 13 years, is currently living under the care of the Edhi Foundation charity here.

விண்ணப்பதாரர்கள் விண்ணப்ப கட்டணமாக ரூ.100-ம், தேர்வுக்கட்டணமாக ரூ.400-ம் சேர்த்து மொத்தம் ரூ.500 கட்டணம் செலுத்தி விண்ணப்பிக்க வேண்டும். எஸ்.சி, எஸ்.டி. பிரிவினர், மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள், பெண் விண்ணப்பதாரர்களுக்கு தேர்வுக்கட்டணத்தில் இருந்து விலக்கு அளிக்கப்படுகிறது. இவர்கள் விண்ணப்பக் கட்டணம் ரூ.100 மட்டும் செலுத்தி விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம். கட்டணத்தை தபால் அலுவலகங்களிலோ, மின்னணு முறையிலோ செலுத்தலாம்.

விண்ணப்பிக்கும் முறை:

விண்ணப்பதாரர் தபால் பிரிவின் தபால்காரர் பணி அல்லது ரெயில்வே மெயில்கார்டு பணி இரண்டில் ஒன்றிற்கு மட்டுமே விண்ணப்பிக்க முடியும். விருப்பமுள்ளவர்கள் இணையதளம் வழியாக விண்ணப்பம் சமர்ப்பிக்கலாம். முன்னதாக புகைப்படம் மற்றும் கையப்பத்தை ஸ்கேன் செய்து வைத்துக் கொள்ளவும். 10-ம் வகுப்பு சான்றிதழ் எண் தகவலும் பூர்த்தி செய்யப்பட வேண்டும் என்பதால் அதையும் தயாராக வைத்துக் கொள்ளவும். இறுதியில் பூர்த்தியான விண்ணப்பத்தை சமர்ப்பித்துவிட்டு, கணினிப் பிரதி எடுத்து வைத்துக் கொள்ளவும். பின்னர் கட்டணம் செலுத்த வேண்டும்.

11.09.2015, ராமநாதபுரம்: ஐஏஎஸ் தேர்விற்கான பயிற்சி மைய நுழைவுத்தேர்விற்கு அக்டோபர் 6ம் தேதிக்குள் விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம் என கலெக்டர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். ராமநாதபுரம் கலெக்டர் நந்தகுமார் விடுத்துள்ள அறிக்கையில் கூறியிருப்பதாவது: சென்னையில் உள்ள அகில இந்திய குடிமைப்பணிகள் தேர்வு பயிற்சி மையத்தில், இந்திய குடிமைப் பணிகளுக்கான (சிவில் சர்வீசஸ்) முதல்நிலைத் தேர்வு பயிற்சிக்கு மாணவர்களை சேர்க்க வரும் நவம்பர் 22ல் நுழைவுத்தேர்வு நடைபெற உள்ளது. இதற்கான விண்ணப்பங்கள் ராமநாதபுரம் கலெக்டர் அலுவலகத்தில் உள்ள மாவட்ட பிற்படுத்தப்பட்டோர் மற்றும் சிறுபான்மையினர் நல அலுவலகத்தில் செப்டம்பர் 6 முதல் வழங்கப்படுகிறது.

இத்தேர்விற்கு விண்ணப்பிக்க குறைந்தபட்சம் இளங்கலை பட்டப்படிப்பு அல்லது அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்ட பட்டப்படிப்புகளில் ஏதாவது ஒன்றில் தேர்ச்சி பெற்றிருக்க வேண்டும். 1.8.2016 அன்று 21 வயது பூர்த்தியடைந்தவராகவும் 32 வயதிற்குட்பட்டவராகவும் இருக்க வேண்டும். இதர பிற்படுத்தப்பட்ட வகுப்பினர், மிகவும் பிற்படுத்தப்பட்டோர் மற்றும் சீர் மரபினர் ஆகியோர் 35 வயதிற்குள்ளும், ஆதிதிராவிடர், அருந்ததியர் மற்றும் பழங்குடியினர் ஆகியோர் 37 வயதிற்குள்ளும், மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் 42 வயதிற்குள்ளும் இருக்க வேண்டும். இந்த பயிற்சி மையத்தில் சேர தமிழகத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் மட்டுமே விண்ணப்பிக்க வேண்டும். பாண்டிச்சேரி உட்பட பிற மாநிலங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களுக்கு விண்ணப்பங்கள் வழங்கப்பட மாட்டாது. விண்ணப்பங்களைப் பெற எழுத்துப்பூர்வமான மனுவுடன் கல்வி, வயது, இருப்பிடம் மற்றும் சாதிச் சான்றிதழ் நகல்கள் இணைக்க வேண்டும். பூர்த்தி செய்யப்பட்ட விண்ணப்பங்களை கடைசி நாளான வரும் அக்டோபர் 6 மாலை 5.45 மணிக்குள் ராமநாதபுரம் மாவட்ட பிற்படுத்தப்பட்டோர் மற்றும் சிறுபான்மையினர் நல அலுவலகத்தில் சமர்ப்பிக்க வேண்டும். இவ்வாறு கலெக்டர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

10-ம் வகுப்பு படித்தவர்களுக்கு பெல் நிறுவனத்தில் பணி

திருச்சி 'பெல்' நிறுவனத்தில் பிட்டர், வெல்டர் பணியிடங்களுக்கு 200 பேர் தேர்வு செய்யப்படுகிறார்கள். 10-ம்வகுப்பு தேர்ச்சியுடன், பணிசார்ந்த பயிற்சி பெற்றவர்கள் விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம்.

இது பற்றிய விவரம் வருமாறு:-

பாரத மிகுமின் நிறுவனம் சுருக்கமாக பெல் (BHEL) என அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. மின்உற்பத்தி, மின்பகிர்மானம், புதுப்பிக்கத்தக்க மின்ஆற்றலை பெருக்குதல் உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு பணிகளில் இந்த நிறுவனம் ஈடுபட்டு வருகிறது. தமிழகத்தில் திருச்சி உள்பட, இந்தியாவின் பல்வேறு இடங்களில் இதன் கிளைகள் செயல்பட்டு வருகின்றன.

கல்வித் தகுதி:

10-ம் வகுப்பு தேர்ச்சி பெற்றிருப்பதுடன், பிட்டர், வெல்டர் போன்ற பிரிவில் என்.ஏ.சி அல்லது என்.டி.சி. பயிற்சி சான்றிதழ் பெற்றவர்கள் விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம்.

வயதுத் தகுதி:

விண்ணப்பதாரர்கள் 1-9-15-ந் தேதியில் 27 வயதிற்கு உட்பட்டவர்களாக இருக்க வேண்டும். எஸ்.சி.,எஸ்.டி. பிரிவினருக்கு 5 ஆண்டுகளும், ஓ.பி.சி. பிரிவினருக்கு 3 ஆண்டுகளும், மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகளுக்கு 10 ஆண்டுகளும் வயது வரம்பில் தளர்வு அனுமதிக்கப்படுகிறது.

தேர்வு செய்யும் முறை :

எழுத்துத் தேர்வு மற்றும் நேர்முகத்தேர்வு அடிப்படையில் தகுதியானவர்கள் தேர்வு செய்யப்படுவார்கள்.

கட்டணம்:

பொது மற்றும் ஓ.பி.சி விண்ணப்பதாரர்கள் ரூ.125, கட்டணமாக செலுத்தி விண்ணப்பிக்க வேண்டும். இணையதள செலான் மூலமாக ஸ்டேட் வங்கியில் இந்த கட்டணத்தை செலுத்தலாம். எஸ்.சி., எஸ்.டி. பிரிவினர் மற்றும் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள், முன்னாள் படைவீரர்கள் இந்த கட்டணம் செலுத்த வேண்டியதில்லை. இதர வழிகளில் கட்டணம் செலுத்த முடியாது.

விண்ணப்பிக்கும் முறை:

விருப்பமும், தகுதியும் உள்ளவர்கள் இணையதளம் வழியாக விண்ணப்பிக்க வேண்டும். இறுதியாக பூர்த்தியான விண்ணப்பத்தை கணினிப் பிரதி எடுத்து, அத்துடன் கட்டண ரசீது மற்றும் தேவையான சான்றிதழ் நகல்கள் இணைத்து Sr.Deputy General Manager/HR(R-W), HRM Department, Bulding No.24, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Tiruchirappalli 620014. என்ற முகவரிக்கு அனுப்பி வைக்க வேண்டும்.
