Improved images and special sign language commentary for the hearing impaired -- national broadcaster Doordarshan's live coverage of the Republic Day parade was impressive this year.
Senior Doordarshan officials said that apart from providing sign language interpretation on DD News and DD Bharati, the national broadcaster had also ensured that an increased number of cameras are deputed to ensure high quality coverage of the important event.
The ministry of Information and Broadcasting had earlier asked private channels also to carry the live telecast of the Republic Day Parade with commentary along with the signals of DD News with sign language interpretation.
DD News also let private satellite TV channels carry the feed of this event free of cost.
It is learnt that Doordarshan had positioned 24 high- definition cameras and deputed nearly 100 skilled professionals for the coverage of the event.
