Vaishali Sharma, Agra based MBBS who has 80% hearing disability has cleared the most prestigious examination for second time in a row.
Vaishali was second rank holder under disability category last year, however, at the time of joining, she could not clear the medical test because of her excess weight. This did not make her lose hopes as she tried yet again, with lost weight and topped the disable category with 970 marks and 47%.
There are 44 disable candidates in the list of recommended candidates this year. Vaishali has topped the list which has 14 more hearing impaired candidates.
According to Vaishali, last year she was happy after being recommended, however, the final medical test declared her unfit for civil services because of her excess weight. At the time of final medical test, the BMI of candidates is measured and it needs to be within the specified limits. Vaishali has overcome the weight issue and is looking forward to join as an IAS officer and serve the nation.
