GUNTUR: Speech and hearing impaired sports persons from Guntur district came on top at the state-level sports meet for deaf and dumb organised at the VSP-RINL stadium in Visakhapatnam. The meet was organised between November 1 and 3. Visakhapatnam district sportspersons clinched the second spot. The sports persons from Guntur district bagged top honours in key events, while Vizag sports persons did well in shotput, 100 meters, 400 meters and long jump events. The sportspersons were later felicitated by the Visakhapatnam district association for the deaf and dumb.
Meanwhile, Friends Hockey Association (FHA), Visakhapatnam in association with Hockey Visakha will be organizing Chitta Ranjan memorial Hockey tournament at Andhra University Jubilee ground from November 10 to 13 on a league-cum-knockout basis. President of Hockey Visakha, SKE Appa Rao and President of FHA, S Ravishankar said that ten teams, including eight teams from Vizag city and two teams from Yelamanchili will be participating in the tournament.
