VADODARA: A 56-year-old man accused of raping a deaf and speech-impaired woman sought bail on Thursday to exchange old notes and deposit his now invalid notes.Rajendra alias Raju Bhavsar moved bail application in the session court requesting for an interim bail of 20 days so that he can complete these monetary transactions. and pay his lawyer's fees too.
In his bail plea, Bhavsar said that he lives alone and had saved some money over the years which are in the form of demonetized currency notes. These would be rendered useless if he did not exchange them. Bhavsar also told the court that there he does not have enough money in the account.
Bhavsar was arrested by the police in May 2015 for allegedly raping the 32-year-old woman living in his neighbourhood in Tandalja.
The court has scheduled the bail plea for further hearing on Monday.
