18.03.2016, Students of Frontline Millennium School are currently doing a project about Special Education for the Hearing Impaired in USA, Germany and India, as a part of British Council's International School Award activities.
Following their interaction with the students of a School for the Hearing Impaired, they convey the following message to the society (us): Children with disability are also like normal children in most aspects - working hard during exams, fun loving, going to schools to take part in competitions etc. People in our society give donations to institutions taking care of disabled children on their birthdays and wedding days. Their good intention and sympathy is very laudable but what these special children need more from the society is empathy. They want these people to spare and share TIME with them. They want to be recognized and accepted as a normal part of the society, to be taken out to public places freely without their relatives feeling embarrassed or ashamed about them.
Also institutions and facilities for higher education for the disabled are very less in our country compared to Germany and USA. The concerned authorities should take action to bring in more facilities for their higher education.
