08.07.2016, Motihari: In the fourth incident of rape in East Champaran district in less than one month, a young deaf and speech-impaired woman was raped in her house on Tuesday night at Malkauniya village under Pachpakadi police station area.
Incidentally, the alleged rapist was caught by villagers and thrashed. Later, they handed him over to the police.
On its part, police have sent the victim to sadar hospital where medical examination of the woman was conducted by a team of doctors.
According to villagers, finding the deaf and speech-impaired woman alone in her house as her family members had gone out to attend a puja in the village, the man raped her. The screams of the woman drew the attention of some neighbours. They immediately nabbed the fleeing rapist, who was identified as Munnilal Chaudhary of the same village.
Pachpakadi police station SHO Sunil Kumar said, "Munnilal has been arrested and sent to jail after a case was lodged against him. We are now waiting for medical report of the victim."
SP Jitendra Rana said he has directed the SHOs of Ramgarhwa and Pachpakadi police stations to submit chargesheets against the accused within 72 hours in the court. Police will pray to court for a speedy trial. Police have arrested one Amit Kumar Mahato and Munnilal, main accused of two separate rape cases of Ramgarhwa and Malkauniya, and sent them to jail, he added.
In the recent rape case of a minor girl of Jamui village under Ramgarhwa police station, four policemen including investigating officer Niru Kumari, sub-inspectors -Subodh Kumar and Vijay Kumar - and Ramgarhwa PS SHO Rajesh Kumar were called by CID ADG Vinay Kumar in Patna on Tuesday and asked to submit chargesheets against the accused after a thorough investigation of the case.
It may be recalled that in the Jamui case, the survivor had lodged a case against six persons including Mohammad Samiullah, who allegedly raped her. Police have already arrested all six accused of the case.
