BAREILLY: In a heart-rending incident reported from Faridpur tehsil, a 60-year-old deaf and mute woman was allegedly gang-raped by two bad characters of the village on Friday night. The badly injured and bleeding woman later communicated the incident to her husband after she was freed by her tormentors.
Superintendent of police (rural) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava told TOI, "We have filed a case under IPC's section 376 (rape) against the two accused who have been arrested and are being questioned for their role. The woman has been sent for medical examination and is being treated for injuries."
According to police, the woman who had gone to answer nature's call was grabbed by the local toughies, who gagged her, took her to a desolate spot and gang-raped her.
After committing the crime, the two fled the spot. The profusely bleeding woman later managed to reach her house where she communicated her ordeal to her husband and daughter-in-law through gestures. On being asked to identify the accused, she took them to the house of the main accused.
According to sources, when the survivor and her family members later reached the house of main accused, his mother pleaded mercy for her son and requested them to refrain from filing a police complaint.
However, the family members of the survivor later filed a complaint at Faridpur police station against the accused persons under different sections of the Indian Penal Code.
