23.02.2016, Bhopal : Arushi in association with Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya organized its Annual Day, Ek Taal Ek Saal on February 21, 2016. Chief Secretary of Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, Antony J C Desa was present as the chief guest to cheer the children. Commissioner Dept, of Social Justice, Govt. of M.P., Manohar Agnani was also present as Special Guest for the function. On this occasion DS Rao (Head of Office, IGRMS) was present. This cultural evening was presented by children with disabilities from Arushi.
The program started by message by Gulzar Sahab followed by lightening of the lamp and Arushi Anthem written by him. Antony Desa was very excited and overwhelmed to see such nice performances by the disabled children. He said that after seeing such program the myth that if there is any physical disability in a person it is a barrier for them has turned wrong. The performances included Kaafi Raag by Sargam Kushwaha, Madhuban mein Radhika Naache Re by Vivek and Rajasthani Folk songs by Falguni Purohit.
Ankit on Tabla and Dholak and Khushi Gupta was on keyboard and Harmonium to assist the children. Dance by Shubham Tiwari was a hit as he performed on Mera Chain Wain sab Ujda and Salaame Isk Meri Jaan caught everyone’s attraction and on the other hand audience was surprised when Kumkum Shakya and Rita Sen both hearing impaired girls were found performing on beautifully choreograophed, Navras by Kanupriya Gupta.
Children also presented Cartoon Characters and Healthy food verses Junk Food in fancy dress. There was a fashion show on the theme States of India. In the end a Nukkad Natak on awareness on disability was also presented by teachers and volunteers of Arushi. Most cooperative parents were given token of appreciation by giving them Most Supportive Parent Award.
The program was hosted by Kanupriya Gupta. Parents, volunteers and staff of Arushi and IGRMS were present to cheer the efforts of the children. This type of program is very important to indulge independency, capacity building and inclusion among children with disabilities.
