10.02.2016, Vadodara: Two deaf and mute cricketers, Imran Sheikh and Rakesh Wajah, will get financial help from the proceeds of a music performance at the CC Mehta Auditorium on Friday.
Gujarat Chhatra Sansad and Sujal Charitable Trust have invited popular music band 'Advaita' to perform for this cause.
While Sheikh has been selected for the upcoming international cricket series, Wajah has quit cricket. Imran started a roadside food stall to support his family while Wajah works with a laundry.
"We decided to help these cricketers as they don't have any source of income and they seldom get any financial help. We approached the Bbut they don't have provisions to help the deaf and mute cricket association," said Kunal Sharma of Gujarat Chhatra Sansad. Proceeds from the show will be kept as fixed deposit in the bank and the two cricketers will be given funds on monthly basis.
M S University syndicate member, Jigar Inamdar, BCA managing committee member and Narayan Satham too have promised to help the deaf and mute cricketers.
"Advaita band has charged only Rs 1.50 lakh from us as they too are contributing for the cause," said Paresh Shah of Sujal Charitable Trust. Deaf Cricket Association, general secretary Virbhadrasinh Rathod said that the cricketers playing for them are very talented but they face financial problems.
