JAMMU, Feb 25: J&K Judo Team of the Deaf that won 7 medals including 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze and claimed the overall trophy in 4th Judo Nationals for Deaf at Lucknow, was felicitated in an impressive function at J&K Samaj Kalyan KJendra, here today.
The National Championship was organized by All India Sports Council of the Deaf.The State team participated in the event under the banner of J&K Blind and Para Judo Association.
The felicitation function was held by J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra and J&K Para Judo Association.
IGP Jammu, Danesh Rana was the chief guest on the occasion, while Ex ADGP SS Wazir, Ex DG Information, KB Jandial, EX IGP, PK Gupta, SSP Jammu Uttam Chand and Ranjeet Kalra, president J&K Blind and Para Judo Association and vice chairman Sports Council, Jammu, besides Vikas Gupta, vice president J&K Blind and Para Judo Association and Joint Secretary Judo Federation of India, Suraj Bhan Singh Judo Coach, Rameshwar Singh Judo Coach, Manish Chatwal Referee and Roshan Bhan, Principal Deaf School.
IGP in his address appreciated the efforts of coach and Judokas for their best performance in the Nationals. He also inaugtarted Computer Lab donated by J&K Police Department under Social Responsible Programme to J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra.
The medal winners were Sunil Kumar, Chetan and Vivek Singh (all gold); Rehan Kumar and Raj Kumar (silver) and Shubam Kumar and Nabeel Ai Dar (bronze).
The team was accompany by Coach Rameshwar Singh and Manish Chatwal, Referee cum Manager.
