Special students from Jaipur rejoice at Geeta's homecoming

27.10.2015, JAIPUR: Speech and hearing impaired students of Seth Anandi Lal Poddar Deaf and Dumb School danced and burst crackers on Monday.

The celebrations started after their teachers informed them about the arrival of Geeta, the speech and hearing impaired girl who had accidentally crossed border to Pakistan. Since most of the 750 students at the school are curious to meet Geeta, the school administration has promised them invite her soon.

These students have formed a WhatsApp group 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' on which they have been sharing Geeta-related developments since her story unfolded.

On TOI's request, Kamlesh Sharma, an interpreter who knows the sign language, invited Khushbu Bana, a speech and hearing impaired student, to share her feelings on Geeta's homecoming.

"She is saying that she is happy to see a film story becoming real. She and other students of the school had watched Bajrangi Bhaijaan movie. She says that seeing this kind of thing in real life is nothing less than a miracle," said Sharma while sharing what Khushbu felt on Geeta's arrival.

In between the conversation, Madan Singh, another student, drew Sharma's attention and urged to say something. "He is saying that he wishes that either the school administration should invite Geeta to their school or some of the kids may be invited by the government of India so that they can meet her. He wishes to know what all Geeta went through while staying in Pakistan," Sharma added.

Like Khushbu, other students were dancing on the beats of dhol and bursting crackers on the school premises. "Some of our students have made a WhatsApp group in which they were sharing messages on the developments relating to Geeta's return from Pakistan. They all had liked the film Bajrangi Bhaijaan and now they are feeling happy to know about the safe return of Geeta," said Yogendra Singh Naruka, in-charge of the school. Naruka added that since many of them read newspapers, they are well aware of the developments related to Geeta.

"Aaj humarey bachchey bahut khush hain (Today, our kids are very happy)," said Naruka while pointing towards a student who was busy in bursting crackers.
