Three deaf and dumb men held for theft

25.10.2015, AURANGABAD: A deaf and dumb man and his two freinds have been arrested by the city police on the charges of committing theft in the house of his father-in-law recently. The accused with help of his two accomplices, also deaf and dumb, allegedly stole 80 grams of gold, a mobile phone and Rs 20, 000 cash, when his in-laws had gone out to meet their relatives.

The three suspects have been identified as Sameer Khan, a resident of Hussain Colony, Shaikh Amjad of Rengtipura and Rehan Khan, said police.

Police said that the complainant Shaikh Khalil Shaikh Lal had given his daughter, also deaf and dumb in marriage to Sameer Khan, who would stay with his wife on the first floor of the building owned by his in-laws. After returning from Haj pilgrimage, Sameer's in-laws went out to meet relatives. He allegedly took their absence as an opportunity, brought in two-of his friends and robbed the house of gold and cash.

Police said that they found the stolen mobile handset in possession of Sameer, following which he was interrogated. Sameer confessed to the crime and led the police to his accomplices. Police have also recovered stolen goods from their possession, a senior police officer said.
